Homeland Security: When it comes to foul balls, a "heads up!" is no big deal. But when the government warns of imminent and "certain" attack by al-Qaida, complacency is not an option.
A chilling spectacle just took place before the Senate Intelligence Committee. Panel Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., asked, "What is the likelihood of another terrorist-attempted attack on the U.S. homeland in the next three to six months, high or low?"
And one by one, Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair, CIA Director Leon Panetta and FBI Director Robert Mueller all agreed an attack was "certain."
But log onto the Department of Homeland Security's Web site and all seems fairly calm. The first news item listed says, "Secretary Napolitano Announces More than $23 Million in Recovery Act Funding for Fire Station Construction Grants." And three of the other four news items on the main page tout the ways the department's $56.3 billion fiscal year 2011 budget request would be spent.
You have to look for the fine print and click a couple of times to find out the nation's terror alert condition yellow or "elevated," like during most of the time since 9/11.
But if an attack is "certain" as the U.S. intelligence community tells us (but only after being asked by a senator), then shouldn't there be a bit more urgency than this?
Far from scrambling to stave off sure and impending disaster, this administration is bragging that its ill-advised policies haven't yet done harm.

This is it folks, we’re on our own—literally. This administration doesn’t give a rats @ss about us.
They are not worried about us serfs. The cost to protect a few of the great unwashed is more than the taxes they will pay. It’s the EMOcrat version of cost benefit analysis.
I heard Panetta said 3-6 months.
Did Blair and Mueller also agree ?
Anyone got video of this ?
I heard this on Rush this afternoon around 12:45. Try his web-site.
And one by one, Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair, CIA Director Leon Panetta and FBI Director Robert Mueller all agreed an attack was "certain."
Do any of them realize they’re in the cross-hairs too? Do you think Obama and any of his bunch have ever thought that if the heros of Flight 93 hadn’t acted that that plane might well have gone sailing into The White House or the Capitol Building? Do they think they’re going to dodge a bullet?
I guess the administrations strategy is to help clean up afterwards.
For 8 years since 9/11 no attacks on this soil, if this is allowed to happen and I said ALLOWED we need to impeach this bastard
These guys hardly ever say anything is certain.
This is blood curdling stuff.
The question was about the likelihood of another terrorist-attempted attack in the next three to six months.
An attempted attack, not a successful attack.
So they are certain there will be an attempted attack.
A lot of the rest of us are certain of that too.
What is uncertain is when the next successful attack will occur.
Right after this meeting, a reporter cornered Dennis Blair and asked him directly:
“If we captured Osama bin Laden tonight, would he be read his Miranda rights?”
Blair refused to answer the question.
Chew on that one.
The real question being asked is: Is an election canceling event on the horizon in the next 3 to 6 months? <<<
If that is even attempted then it is go time!! Their hand will be exposed and their full intentions will be clear It will be time to kick some!!!!
Or............is an event on the horizon in the next 3 to 6 months to cancel this administration?
I'm not quite sure what you are getting at.
For sure Panel Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein, knows that the midterm elections are going to be as far as possible “Administration Canceling.”
I think all their security gives them a false sense of the same.
Reminder that Rudy cancelled the NYC primaries that were scheduled for 9/11.
Well, the clues have been there since Christmas for those that are not asleep. Couple this with the Brits going “REALLY SCARY” on their terror security alert level, and any thinking person should be able to put things together.
As to cancelling an election, pretty unlikely. Unless the bad guys figure out how to kill a city (and they might), things will continue with a greater or lesser loss of life and normal electoral procedures will continue. Would that it were different, but kicking over the roach hotel that is Yemen, will have consequences. We’re not children though, and can generally make our way in the world as we have in the past.
