6 is a side by side.
at about 70 percent it flys about 148.
I did not build it.
Full instrument panel and loads of fun.
Can go about 4.5 hours before I start looking for a gas station.
Best thing I’ve done lately with it was to go up to Sebastian at about 10,000 to watch a shuttle take off with my son.
WAAAAAY cool.
“WAAAAAY cool.”
Well, yeah.
I always planned my flights in the tri pacer at 4 hours max. I think that the fastest I ever got her to go was 130 mph ground speed, and that was with a pretty good tailwind.
I had a Johnson bar for brakes, and two position manually activated flaps. No VOR, but I had a whiskey compass, and lots of windows to look out of. VFR only. If I had the slightest doubt about the weather, I didn’t fly. I was a pretty big coward.
She had a pretty good radio, a CD player, and a GPS. The radio had head sets and the CD player would cut out when ever I talked on the radio or there was radio traffic.
It was perfect for fly-ins. My wife and I would pack a cooler, the tent, sleeping bags, etc in the back seat and off we’d go for a weekend of camping under the wing someplace with friends. It was pretty cool.
