It’s not about increasing police. How about we go vigillante on these morons? We find a few of them splattered in the streets and one of two things will happen; they will stop for fear of being killed by just citizens or they will move on to other neighborhoods. Repeat step 1 everywhere they go and tada - crime stops.

I saw a video of the beating on the local news - it's clear that the criminals were kids from the nearby high school. They aren't moving on to any other neighborhoods - this is their turf. A few of them instigated this savagery by throwing rocks at this guy and when he tried to confront them, they jumped him. And soon a mob of kids was beating this guy. Vallejo is a bad area, and the parenting that went into this is one reason why. The kids who did this are probably irredeemable and will spend most of their lives in prison.

Have you been watching Bronson's Death Wish movies again?

I watched Steven Segal's Out For Justice last night, and appreciate your feelings. In the old West, the much-villified "Committees of Vigilance" were mostly a response to the non-response of local law enforcement, and mostly did a lot of good.
I would not advocate that! HOWEVER, the day may come when it is the only morally decent thing to do. For example, if Mexican drug-violence continues to spill over into our country, and/or our own culture keeps heading in this direction.
