If they are from do not pay taxes and they are from India, they would not be counted in the Census.

Crist is also whinning for food stamps for Florida’s illegal aliens from the feds.

Farmworkers struggle after freeze kills crops, wages

The News-Press (Fort Myers, FL), January 16, 2010
http://www.news-press.com/article/20100116/NEWS01/100115087/1075/Farmworkers-struggle-after-freeze-kills-crops—wages

Migrant advocates are mobilizing. On Thursday, Mainster asked George Sheldon, the Department of Children and Families secretary, to start a one-time emergency food stamp program.

If an emergency is declared, the federal government could waive documentation rules that would extend food stamps to those here illegally.

DCF leaders said the decision is not solely left to them. It hinges on a federal disaster declaration and approval to run an emergency food stamp program, said Jennifer Lange, director of the program that includes food stamps.

‘If the federal government approves a disaster food stamp program then documentation is not a question that is asked,’ Lange said.

*******Gov. Charlie Crist wrote the federal agriculture secretary Friday, asking him to speed up a request for a declaration for the state.*******

People could be eligible to immediately receive stamps or get them quickly in the mail, Lange said. The maximum benefit for one person is $200. The
department offered such programs in the past after hurricanes.

If an emergency is declared, the federal government could waive documentation rules that would extend food stamps to those here illegally.

This used to happen in the 1970s and 1980s here in Florida(no doubt, many other years)!

I remember a major freeze in the 70s when, crewleaders of orange pickers (mostly illegals) would work all week in Central Florida picking fruit (which, after a severe freeze, must be harvested rapidly and processed). Usually, they were not available on Fridays, having driven to South Florida and obtaining emergency funds due to the row crops (which are immediately destroyed by a hard freeze) being devastated! Obviously, the crew-leaders kept the lion's share of the benefits!

I have found that, the most uneducated individuals have no problem picking up the scent of "Other Peoples Money" in the form of "Assistance". Indeed, the church and aid agencies go to great lengths to ensure that there are sufficient "Victims" to absorb however much "Aid" is made available (and then some)!
