“The very survival of American democracy” is exactly why there must NOT be a government commission with a mandate to “save journalism jobs”.

Quote pulled from a link accessed via Drudgereport: "EDITOR'S NOTE: Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather called on President Barack Obama to form a White House commission to help save the press. Tears welled in the lifelong reporters eyes as he discussed the dwindling number of war correspondents."
Boo hoo Dan.
I worked in telecom for nearly 10 years and was shown the door... customers no longer wanted/needed the product I was working. I had very good experience and a marketable degree so I found new employment in a different industry relatively quick in '02.
So welcome to the jungle Danny... make yourself more marketable (like that's ever going to happen with your reputation) and see if the "market" will offer you and your kind employment.
