You've heard the mantra, chanted by everyone on the left, from Michael Moore to The New York Times: America's profit-centric health-care system is dismally inferior to that of Canada's purely pristine humanitarian-driven version.
Indeed, the central theme of Moore's 2007 "documentary" film, "Sicko," was that Canada -- with its universal, government-run and taxpayer-funded "free" health care -- is a medical paradise
And a Times editorial last August glowingly declared: "Contrary to what one hears in political discourse, the bulk of the research comparing the United States and Canada found a higher quality of care in our northern neighbor
Well, tell that to Danny Williams, premier of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador
The popular 59-year-old politician has discovered that
nothingis for free. He's somewhere in the US today -- prepping for heart surgery.
Seems the procedure he needs simply isn't available in Newfoundland -- at
any price.

I am sure it is available there : )

If americans want to see what Canadians think of their health care - watch “Invasion of the Barbians” a drama about a dying professor who has been every ISM we dislike and he finds it is a crock as well. The story deals with his realization while in a hospital for cancer treatment - which his rich son ends up paying for.
just like MP Belinda Stronach (of Clinton-babe conspiracy fame) hopped a flight to L.A. to get treatment for her breast cancer

Maybe our new anti-Obamacare slogan should be “Book ‘em, Danno!”
Last fall just before the Christmas break, one of our local law enforcement entities put out a communique' regarding a new "ZERO tolerance" policy for drinking drivers. Basically, if you had consumed ANY alcohol WHATSOEVER, you would be given a 24 hour roadside suspension and your car would be towed to impound at your expense.
Today, I heard a radio advertisement wherein a member of one of our local police departments informed us that: "If you are stopped for any reason, and the officer thinks you MAY have smoked some pot, or done a line, or are under the influence of ANY drug whatsoever, a URINE SAMPLE will be demanded from you.
REFUSAL TO PRODUCE said sample will be subject to the SAME PENALTY as a positive test result.
THIS IS WHILE YOU'RE JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD!!
For those of you that accepted and encouraged this kind of treatment for your children and co-workers, all I can say is: Welcome to the party, MORON! YOUR privacy is OVER, just like you wished upon others.
While this may be in BC (You know, where the Winter Olympics start in a week or so), you can rest assured that it WILL be tried in your neighbourhood soon.
And yet our FReeper Cops can't figure out why the cops are often held in disdain...
Enforcing bogus laws MAKES YOU BOGUS! ( I typed that slowly, so it could be read correctly)> If a law is STOOPID, don't even deign to consider it as enforceable. Contempt for the law does NOT need to mean contempt for the enforcers, UNLESS they enforce CONTEMPTIBLE laws!
They are doing that in BC?
Wasn’t there a case that went to the Federal Supreme Court that ruled that even the smell of smoke wasn’t enough evidence for a search?
It’s been on several of the radio stations in Victoria for a couple of days now.
I am not impressed, to say the least.
I had a major problem with the draconian “zero tolerance for even a hint of alcohol during Christmas” declaration, but THIS!??!
I value my membership at FR, and refuse to expose my fellow FReepers to my true feelings about this latest assault upon a basic freedom.
