In two open-seat Senate contests, fourth- quarter fundraising reports confirmed that one-time GOP front-runners are falling back to earth in their respective primaries.
Nowhere is that more evident than in Florida, where Gov. Charlie Crist (R) faces a primary against former state House Speaker Marco Rubio.
Crists $2.1 million in fundraising during the quarter was down from the $2.5 million he raised in the third quarter and $4.3 million he raised in the second quarter of 2009. And as Crists totals have decreased, Rubio has watched his fundraising take off.
Rubio posted his best quarter yet during the final three months of 2009, raking in $1.76 million. Thats up from just more than $1 million in the third quarter of 2009.
In Kentucky, Secretary of State Trey Grayson is the GOP establishments choice not to mention the political protege of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell . Despite that support, Grayson was outraised for the second quarter in a row by anti-tax activist Rand Paul, the son of Texas GOP Rep. Ron Paul . Grayson raised $446,000 to Pauls $653,000. As of Dec. 31, Grayson had $1.4 million in cash on hand to Pauls $1.3 million.
Now that our donations are going to individuals, we are trying to decide which are the key races that we can help support. Any suggestions?
No, John, it reflects pro-Conservative fervor. There's a difference.
Spot on! The head pundits won’t admit the truth.
Paul/Paul for leadership of the house and senate. While I don’t care for the isolationist bent, we are talking about the survival of the country and avoiding totalitarianism and there is no one else out there talking about this.
Very good point, they dont like to admit that !
it’s not incumbent as these are open seats.
