Police seize 5,000 amphetamine-based ‘Yaba’ pills, often referred to as "Hitler's drug," at Ben-Gurion airport; “It allows Thais to work for two days straight,” senior police source explains.

A dangerous and addictive drug that was originally developed by Nazi scientists to boost the endurance of Axis soldiers, and which causes users to become aggressive and violent, is being smuggled into Israel from Thailand in ever-larger amounts, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

In Thailand, the methamphetamine-based drug is known as “Yaba” (crazy medicine), and in the West, it is often referred to as “Nazi Speed” or “Hitler’s drug.”

Islamic suicide-bombers and terrorists are often high on this stuff, on the day they attack.

Ich kann nicht anhalten! I would of thought something called the Hitler drug would of been a hard sale.

WWII American bomber pilots on long missions were very often given amphetamines. They called them "pep pills" and there is little difference in their effect. I always thought "Nazi" just referred to the stove-top method of cooking the meth. Pep pills have been around a long time and everywhere.

"Benzedrine is the trade name of the racemic mixture of amphetamine (dl-amphetamine). It was marketed under this brandname in the USA by Smith, Kline & French in the form of inhalers, starting in 1928. Benzedrine was used to enlarge nasal and bronchial passages and it is closely related to other stimulants produced later, such as dextroamphetamine (d-amphetamine) and methamphetamine."

“Benzadrine was used to enlarge nasal and bronchial passages”......

Wow.

I am SO glad I wasn’t around back then; I can’t even stand Sudafed and Afrin.

I’d be a mess-a fast and busy mess- but still a mess!

In the 70's 'Benies' were handed out like candy to 'mommy' to lose weight. And for a myriad of others Med problems, fatigue, tiredness, whatever.

And this 'speed' was nothing like 'Meth' of today. They were medically safe with no poison in them. A couple 10mg pills (white w/ a cross on them) and you were good to go for 24 hours. IIRC the Green ones were 20mg.

The problems came when 'Speed Freaks' starting mainlining them and croaking from ODs left and right. That's when the gubmint cracked down.
