Israel has reprimanded two senior army officers who were responsible for firing white phosphorus artillery shells at a UN compound during last year’s offensive in Gaza.
In the first admission of any wrongdoing the Israeli military found that Brigadier-General Eyal Eisenberg and Colonel Ilan Malka were guilty “of exceeding their authority in a manner that jeopardised the lives of others”.
The Israeli report was in response to a damning UN investigation into the Gaza war, which concluded that both Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian group, had committed war crimes and possible crimes against humanity and which called on both sides to investigate the conduct of their forces.

White phosphorous used in Gaza.
Brig. Gen. Eyal Eisenberg.
Muhammad Nabih Ahmed. He's looked like he's wrapped like an Egyptian mummy. Poor Pali!
Brig. Gen. Eyal Eisenberg and Col. Ilan Malka used white phosphorus in Gaza without authorization from the high command.
At least they did not get sentenced to death.
I thought Williepete was also used as target markers.
Nasty stuff, but not any nastier than rockets aimed
to kill Israeli civilians.
What...did they miss?
White phosphorus will disperse a crowd post-haste.
He looks like a “Honey Baked Palestinian”.
I’m sure he suffered greatly but I wonder if he
was able to associate that pain with the stupidity
of his own leadership. I rather doubt it.
You see, the point was we were trying to kill them. Anyone unclear on the concept?
We will have peace in the Middle East when the Arabs love their children more than they hate the Jews.
“You see, the point was we were trying to kill them. Anyone unclear on the concept?”
Yeah, about 60 percent of congress and a particular community organizer we all know.
The slap on the wrist should be because they didnt lob more Willy Peter into this stronghold of Islamic idiots.
True, but the Palestinians (aka the House of Esau) have a culture of violence and white-hot hatred for the Israelis, straight out of the furnaces of hellfire!
But exceeding their authority could have landed these two IDF officers into more hot water.
Too bad they did not use something more powerful. The UN isn’t exactly a friend of Israel and it should not be treated as a neutral party in this war.
The Palestinians are not in the least unclear on the concept. Fortunately, they are utterly incompetent. They are a welfare society.
By the way, there is ample evidence that the U.N. are accessories in the murder of the Israeli civilians by Gazan savages. If I had in my power, I’d give those Israeli officers medals.
Yes, I guess they should have been nice, giving the enemy candy and other treats what ever happened to war being war? Ultimate objective to win.
if I remember correctly, there’s more to it - that particular UN building was not really “neutral” even though it was purported to be. The enemies of Israel were firing on Israel from within that building or right next to it. Using civilians as shields is a common tactic. Provocation occurred first; then Israel retaliated.
very nasty stuff.
