Thanks for this crazy story! Left out of “The Aftermath” is what happened to the K-9. Inquiring minds want to know. :-)

Good Lord....Cracks have not only formed in the foundation of government at all level, but now we have cops shooting at their own K-9s and then having a punch fest as the dog starts biting other LEOs on scene?
What insanity...

He said no officers have been placed on administrative leave, and that Elwaer's injury "could have been a lot worse.I'm thinking maybe the K9 officer needs to be put on leave -- the 4-legged one, that is. Not that it's all clear that he's at fault, but he must be one very confused dog right now, when it comes to issues of telling the bad guys from the good guys, whom to bite, etc. He deserves a little vacation time with some competent humans, followed by a bit of refresher training. What on earth were the arresting officers thinking of, attempting to arrest the slugging-it-out pair of officers which included the dog's handler, before someone managed to get the dog restrained? I mean, WTH did they expect the dog to do?

Pefectly understandable.
Those poor officers are exposed to drugs and drug tainted money day in, and day out.
The dog was just attacking a bunch of perps in funny costumes, who reeked of drugs.
WARNING: as a civilian, if YOUR money (like 90% of American currency) has been detected as tainted by Officer Canine, the above will not apply to you.

... were all policies and procedures followed correctly," Trent said.
Does this mean there there is a "policy or procedure" for an officer to follow when shooting a police K9?

I’m siding with the dog.
He probably bit all the right people.

I worked with a lot of K9's in my day as an officer. But never even came close to getting bit by one of the dogs during a foot chase or fight with a bad guy.
The closest I came was I was helping the K9 Officer with some training one night. In the morning when we got off work, I put on the same jacket I had been wearing during the training.
I went walking past the squad-room and said good night to everyone.
As I put my hand on the door-nob to open it, there was a GS dog on my back. He gave a little growl. And I cried for the K9 Officer.
I never wore that coat to work again. <;8*)

Just wow. Looks like somebody needs to go back to Dog Training, 101. Then, somebody needs to quit trying to beat the tar out of his fellow police officer and watch his dog better.
The dog just does what it’s been trained to do (or not).
