The capper came Thursday when, at the top of the 7 o'clock hour, right after Vice President Joe Biden, Bush made a rare network television appearance on NBC's Today Show. The intensely private Bush's interview with the overly familiar Matt Lauer rattled Florida political circles.
Was this the beginning of a Jeb juggernaut that would culminate in a 2012 presidential bid?

Don’t forget No Child Left Behind. What a joke.
LOL well DJ, I already said that!
I agree. On balance, Jeb did a good job as governor. He strayed from the reservation now and then, like drinking the ethanol koolaid. I’d like to see him run against Nelson. We don’t need another Bush running for Potus.
Yup. We have a duet going. :-)
Half a joke.
I don’t consider reading and math standards to be a joke.
What’s wrong is the federal mandate.
Let the states sort out the reading and math standards and let them set strict ones that make the National Education Asociation teacher unions in those states angry.
Let the states cap teacher salaries and mandate firings for academic failure.
Obama is planning on changing NCLB to keep federal control without reading and math standards.
Obama wants political indocrtrination mandated from Washington, not reading and math.
In NY, we have Regents, PSAT’s and a bunch of other tests. My daughter spent very little school time in real studying and a great deal of class time studying for tests. We don’t need more tests, we need more teaching.
More reading and math and less “diversity” or “climate change” indoctrination.
The testing has some political roots in it, but the students must know how to read and do math.
If a system of testing forces public schools to shape up, so be it.
The Bushes are so yesterday.
(Not that I dont miss yesterday.)
You don’t get it. They aren’t studying. They are training to take tests.
I have no problem with students who read and write.
You sound like a talking point from the National Education Association when you go “training for tests” instead of “studying.”
I assume you support ending tenure so its easier to fire teachers to improve schools, don’t you?????
They need more than that. And it doesn't include taking endless tests. Federal control of schools needs to be ended.
And who said they can read? They are no longer taught phonics. From 4th grade on, no studying verbs, adverbs, nouns, pronouns, adjectives.... we took our daughter OUT of public school. The private school asked her to diagram a sentence. She'd NEVER heard of it.
Yeah all those tests are really helping.
For my money Palin, the Bushes, Romney, and McCain are all big government conservatives/moderates. All of them are much better than Marxist Obama, but they are still proponents of big government, even Palin (just look at her record in Alaska). I doubt that a true small government conservative can be elected, but it would be nice (even if he were a social liberal). For now, I’m thinking John Thune may be the best we can hope for, and he is a real longshot.
The term “RINO” has no meaning. In some cases it is no more than a term to describe any Republican not liked by the person using the term. Like all name calling, it is usually used to keep from making a real argument.
“The term RINO has no meaning. In some cases it is no more than a term to describe any Republican not liked by the person using the term. Like all name calling, it is usually used to keep from making a real argument.”
Now that’s an explanation that sounds closer to the truth. I ask questions here and elsewhere and nobody has been able to point me to a “true” conservative that has gained support from so-called “true” conservatives. Folks better get their shi-act together if we’re ever going to make any forward progress against the left in this country.
Not to get into a Palin debate here, but us Alaskans were darn pleased with that lady as our governor.
Too bad that you're wrong.

I believe you have misunderstood my stand on the term “rino”. It does lose meaning when it is tossed about carelessly as has been done. Palin is NOT a rino, in my opinion, and yet she has been accused of being one.
You’re irritating me now, bub. I’ve been a lifelong conservative and stand on the same values that this forum does so I don’t appreciate your tone.
I like Palin. I also liked Duncan Hunter. However, even after being pointed toward what a Rino is, you still don’t seem to “get it”.
