The White House's massive stimulus plan funded 599,108 jobs in the fourth quarter, administration officials said Saturday.

The figure, based on about 160,000 reports from state, local and corporate recipients, is the second concrete look at the impact of the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. These recipients have been allocated $199.4 billion in spending and received $57.9 billion.

All we need to return to prosperity is to hire small boys with bricks to break all the shop windows.

Such efficiency! By their own figures they’ve spent $96,643 and allocated $332,828 for each job “funded.” What they’ve already spent can’t even include an entire year’s salary and benefits as we’ve only had a year of Porkulus and they didn’t “fund” all those jobs right away.

Most of the jobs are “saved” jobs. This means government ee’s at all levels.

How many of these jobs didn't exit before the stimulus?

Very few I bet.

A few construction jobs repairing infrastructure - but what happens when the jobs are complete?

You are correct with that statement. The problem about these jobs is the second half of it. All those jobs will be gone when the work is finished and the same people will be unemployed again.

How many of those “saved” jobs were for working on projects the government was going to do anyway?

There is no such thing as a “saved job.” Odumbo’s outlandish claims of 600,000 saved jobs this quarter and 1.5 million or 2 million jobs saved since the stimulus began are doing exactly what he intended them to do.

Everyone is trying to determine which set of numbers are correct and whether or not most of these “saved jobs” are government jobs/temporary jobs or not.

It is all smoke and mirrors. You have a job or you don’t.

Unemployment rates can up or down - except in Odumbo’s world where unemployment can go up and, magically, so do the number of “saved jobs.”

What utter BS. Monday is a new month, and the Labor Department will be releasing January’s unemployment numbers on Friday. We’ve already seen anecdotal evidence that unemployment is continuing to climb, and January’s numbers will prove that.

Look for revisions to previous months as well. I don’t know what the tipping point is going to be, but we are getting close since the media has finally begun to talk about how phony these claims from the Administration are.

Governments don’t create jobs, they destroy them. Every attempt at creating or saving jobs directly, destroys 2x as many indirectly.

All this stimulus just adds to debt and taxes, causing people to hold on to their assets. Businesses harvest cash flow by deferring maintenance on physcial assets, shelving expansion plans, etc. Individuals and businesses hoarding cash.

Big government can’t comprehend that people react inversely to big government.

More government is the problem, not the solution.

In the Soviet Union the Communists there used to say farm tractor production is up, always up, yet, the people starved. Our Communists here, Obama, et al., say jobs are saved, job are created, yet, the people starve.

It comes out to $96,000 per person.

I calculated the same result.

The "progressives" will argue that not only is that money keeping workers employed but the failing bridges and roads that they inherited are being repaired.
