Look at Pakistan.
That was once part of the culture that gave birth to the Indus Valley Civilisation- the people then probably had better plumbing and irrigation than the average Pakistani does, today, 3000 to 4000+ years hence.
It’s such a shame - Iran is fundamentally Persian, not Muslim. They’ve been hijacked by Islamic invaders and had their entire culture crushed.
The Persian Empire, from what little I know, seemed a lot like the Russian Empire. Somehow impossible to conquer(the Greeks briefly did under Alexander but the empire reformed), huge, polyglot . . . then I guess it was Islam that finally ended it?
