Illinois: Kirk's Primary Foe Says He's the Electable One

Patrick Hughes, a conservative businessman, takes issue with the Republican establishment's portrayal of Rep. Mark Steven Kirk as the "electable" candidate in next week's Illinois Senate primary.

"If Republicans truly want to win that Senate seat, they should get behind me right now," Hughes said Friday. "I can get the base fired up and ready to go, because I'm a traditional Reagan conservative."

Illinois is a Democratic-leaning state...

Hughes contends, though, that Republican officials are misjudging a midterm election environment that has been marked by a national uprising of conservative voters, angry over the policies pursued by President Obama and the Democratic majorities in Congress, which has spurred the rise of the nascent "Tea Party" movement.

While echoing longstanding complaints by conservatives about Kirk's center-left views on sociall issues such as abortion, Hughes is trying to erode his rival's image as a fiscal conservative and blasts him for voting last year for the House climate change bill that includes a controversial cap-and-trade provision

The Stupid Party leadership always backs Trojan Horse liberals.

Meanwhile, my checkbook remains slammed shut.

I donated to Hughes...I will not vote for Kirk in the election. No more Rino’s.

My husband and I voted early, and we both voted for Patrick Hughes!

Take note, a pissy, angry liberal WILL key your car or break something on it for daring to express your hateful, Nazi views in public. At least that’s what those self-righteous scum bags think they’re doing - striking back against those views. That’s why I don’t have any bumper stickers, or anything political on my car.

Thanks, but that was not my car (I wish; ours are all 95s!); saw it in Aurora, IL, while I was participating in and photographing a pro-life march there. They probably have a garage and don't park the car anywhere other than there for too long, because it's a nice vehicle indeed.

I will not vote for Kirk in the election.

Nor will I. I have the same resolve about Mitt Romney.

Not now, not ever, for either one.

Kirk’s a no vote. He’s one of the eight Cap + Taxer nitwits.

Yep. As far as Kirk is concerned, support for cap and tax is all I need to know.
The guy’s a scumbag.
