Bill Gates makes world's biggest ever single charitable donation
Daily Mail ^ | 29th January 2010 | Mail Foreign Service

Bill Gates made the largest ever single charitable donation when he pledged $10billion (£6billion) to develop and distribute vaccines. The Microsoft founder hopes the money, to be spent over the next ten years through his foundation, will save the lives of more than eight million children in the world's poorest countries. 'We must make this the decade of vaccines,' he said. 'Vaccines already save and improve millions of lives. 'Innovation will make it possible to save more children than ever before.'

Heh. Fair enough. We each would surely pick something different to support. So he picked vaccines. Okey dokey.

I get what you mean about “trendy”. I’ve found annoyance with that sort of thing too, over the years.

As they say ...follow the money. Some are lining their pockets along the way.

I’ve owned three computers and decided to try out an Apple, will never but another brand again.

Best choice in computers that I’ve ever made.

“Oh please, he offered a product on the market and consumers chose to buy that product.”

No they didn’t. Gates made underhanded and illegal deals and strongarmed hardware and software makers to eschew other, better operating systems.

I was one of those who Gates destroyed illegally. I still haven’t recovered the money he stole from me.

Because of Gates’s illegal activities the computing world lost excellent OS technology. We are all foundering in a world of bloated, inefficient, bug-ridden insecure crap that runs our computers and our lives.

There are better operating systems out there. Gates’s illegal activity prevents you and everyone else from using it to its fullest capacity.

Are you saying you have an unknown OS?

No, I developed (good) software for a (great) OS that Gates destroyed illegally.

Microsoft was convicted of antitrust violations, but Gates suffered no consequences. He manufactured false evidence and submitted it at the trial. Yet he suffered no consequences.

But I did. So did my wife. So did my employees. So did my customers.

And in a way, so did you. Because if my software truly is good, you will never have a chance to use it because of Gates’s criminality.

“This country going to hell in a hand basket and he spends the money overseas. I mean he is free to do what he wants and all, but wouldn’t it be better to put this money into something sustainable, like a business here in the USA?”

He’s already built Microsoft and if he developed another business, there’s a high risk that it might get taxed, blackmailed, or pushed into accepting minorities as AA employees. Remember what they did to him in the nineties? He got crucified for having a monopoly, ordered to prop up Apple, blackmailed by the NAACP, and then ordered to pay massive fines.

Only an idiot would think to build a successful business in this country. If he spent the money here, there’s a high risk that the project would go awry since everyone and their mother would demand their slice. In the Third World they don’t nail him to a corporate cross for being successful and hardworking, they practically worship him and don’t make him a target for the wrath of the unsuccessful.

You said it yourself, this country is going to hell and I think a lot of people need to go through hell to learn to appreciate the freedoms and prosperity this country has. We have to throw off these greedy special interest groups, blackmailing minorities.

“I guess it just sounded like Princess Dianna and her landmine crusade,”

Well, Princess Diana didn’t really create jobs with her crusade. Plus the landmines, however insidious, protected South Korea from the North Korean military. But a vaccination program is better since it saves lives and prevents a disease from spreading.

Bill has been remarkably pragamtic about his programs and he’s done a spectacular job.

Will he get tax credit for sending this money overseas? Has he made contributions to causes that help this country? I just recall reading his support for Rev. Jesse Jackson. How about Al Sharpton?

Gates is a Dem. In his brain, he thinks that America is rich enough to care for itself. Typical lib “logic”..

This from someone who STOLE/BULLSH*TTED IBM that he had an OS, when in fact Wozniak and Ballmer bought an OS from another programmer to show IBM. Gates was a born thief.

In the original book, which is the basis of the movie, Gates is confirmed to have said “geniuses steal”.

Even the Windows process where you point the cursor on the desktop was XEROX. The XEROX people deserves what they got because they were so arrogant to say “oh these people from MS wont steal this..”

But the XEROX people kept explaining to Gates how it worked. Idiots.
