Them union members wised up and stopped paying dues, you really see the crap hit the fan, much like in this linked video. Ain't gonna happen. Most union dues are automatically deducted from the paycheck before it ever gets to the employee's hands.

I posted it because the vitriol was just shocking. I doubt we’ve seen the last of this kind of thing.

Most union dues are automatically deducted from the paycheck before it ever gets to the employee's hands. Yep, just like income taxes.
In places where you can drop out of a union, some have it set up to where you will still have to pay dues until your anniversary date of joining comes around.

To 4 - Those deductions are stopped when one severs his/her membership with a union.
Union membership is not mandatory anywhere in the US

You can opt out by notifying them in writing on the anniversary date of their current contract.
Been there, done that (IBEW).

In detroit, the mayor halted this practice. Unionized city workers now have to pay the dues themselves. Man, the union heirarchy had and continues to have a major cow....hilarious

Most union dues are automatically deducted from the paycheck before it ever gets to the employee's hands.FWIW, my son (union carpenter, working in Manhattan, NYC) gets his paycheck from the company he works for, but has to write a quarterly check to the union for dues.
