North Korea fires more artillery: report

SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea fired more artillery in the direction of a disputed naval border with South Korea on Wednesday, Yonhap news agency said, hours after the rivals had an initial exchange that stoked regional security tensions.

North Korea said the earlier firing was part of routine military drills and it would fire more into the waters that were inside its territory.

S. Korean media reports that 2nd round of shelling happened around 3pm in S. Korean time, while the first one occurred in the morning.

I think the North wants a war, a conventional one at least with the south. I bet they are hedging bets that Bambi won’t do anything to stop a localized conventional war between the two Koreas.

If the Norks use those 10’s of thousands of pieces of artillery they have pointed at Seoul, it would be devastating within a half hour. A non-conventional response may be appropriate under these circumstances. I think the Norks are stupid, but not this crazy. Causing some Iron rain in one of the most densely populated cities in the world would probably make the Haiti earthquake look like a cakewalk.

Yes, it’s that serious and that’s why we don’t want this escalating.

Agree this could be a mess. Maybe they should just send six or seven of these artillery shells into Pyongyang as a peaceful demonstration. ;-)
