As I said DeMint was a ground floor supporter of Mitt. He did fund raisers for Mitt in 2007. He didn't have to pick anybody at that point in time and he certainly didn't have to pick the RINO, Mitt.
You can be a rock ribbed conservative and make a mistake, or you could be a moderate mushball and make a mistake. OR anything in between.
