This shocking revelation, written by a seemingly disembodied hand on the wall of a royal banquet hall, during a time of revelry, was given to Belshazzar, King of the Chaldeans (aka Babylonians, inhabitants at the time of what is part of present-day Iraq).
And what was Belshazzar’s offense? According to the Bible:
“And thou...O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart... But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven;...”

In a word: Arrogance.
On Tuesday, January 19, 2010, Massachusetts voters delivered a stinging rebuke to Obama’s misguided policies and overweening arrogance by electing a Republican, Scott Brown, to fill the so-called “Ted Kennedy” seat in the Senate. To use an overused Obama term, this was an unprecedented rebuke of the Obama Administration.
In one year, we have seen Barack Obama, weighed in the balances and found drastically wanting. Why? Primarily for the same reason that Belshazzar was found wanting: Arrogance.
To consider a Biblical analogy of Obama’s arrogance, read the story of King Rehoboam in I Kings, Chapter 12. Rehoboam followed his father Solomon as the designated ruler of Israel. Unfortunately, Solomon had turned away from God (in his old age), openly worshiping idols, and raising his son Rehoboam in an environment of idolatry and permissiveness. Not surprisingly, Rehoboam became self-centered, rebellious, arrogant, and power-hungry.
Rehoboam’s arrogance, coupled with his power, was the proximate cause for the people of the previously united kingdom of Israel to split into two kingdoms, Israel and Judea.
Arrogance and power have always been a disastrous combination. It was so in ancient Israel; it is so in modern America. Barack Obama, like Rehoboam, is a disaster for the simple reason that he combines great arrogance with great power.
Obama is exactly the type of demagogic politician that our founding fathers feared; and it was their fear of the potential misuse of political power that motivated them to give us a written Constitution. The Constitution was designed to protect our liberties and freedom from the types of misuse of political power that Obama has already employed.
Of course, the Constitution is only a protection if its provisions are honored and followed. Sadly, Obama has demonstrated his willingness to bypass the checks and balances against the abuse of political power that are contained in our U.S. Constitution. If you question that, as only one simple example, reflect on the many Czars that Obama has hired. Czar hiring is simply a technique for bypassing senate approval of people who are essentially performing cabinet-level jobs (Senate approval is a Constitutional provision contained in Article II, Section 2)
Obama has desperately needed, but failed, to understand the wisdom spoken by Peter Parker (Spider-Man) supposedly given to him by his Uncle Ben: “With great power comes great responsibility.” Actually, the phrase’s origins can be traced back to Jesus. In the Gospel According to Luke, Luke records Jesus as saying:
“From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.”

Like Rehoboam, Obama is a self-centered ideologue and a self-anointed change-agent who is determined to follow his own path, and the path of those who agree with his radical ideas:
“But he forsook the counsel of the elders which they had given him, and consulted with the young men who grew up with him and served him.”
– I Kings 12:8 [NASB]
“The king answered the people harshly, for he forsook the advice of the elders which they had given him, and he spoke to them according to the advice of the young men...”
– I Kings 12:13-14 [NASB]
Notice carefully that Rehoboam took “...the advice of the young men...”. This is not a denigration of youth. It is rather a metaphor for inexperienced advice. Some things in our world, national politics for example, cry-out for the judgment of experience. Not the energy, valuable though it is, of callow-youth, who cry:”Yes we can! Yes we can!” Even if they are clueless as to how, when, or why.
As the Bible validates in many passages, sound judgment, more often than not, correlates with aged, Godly people, not with the young, and especially not with young, ungodly people. So in scripture in I Kings 12, the phrase, “...young men...”, is a metaphor for dangerous and arrogant inexperience.
Rehoboam listened to inexperienced advisers, and followed their bad advice. Results?
Disaster.
If this sounds familiar, it is because this has become the defining scenario of the Obama administration: Obama surrounds himself with immoral and inexperienced advisers...his advisers generate astonishingly wrongheaded political advice...Obama follows the advice...disaster.
Why does Obama listen to the voices of inexperience? Why did Rehoboam listen to the voices of inexperience? Why exclude the voices of the elders (the wise and experienced). Why?
It is rebellion against wisdom.
The decades beginning with the 1960s have produced many such rebels, against wisdom, in our nation (coinciding with the outlawing of prayer in public schools—1962), and now many of these rebels (political radicals) including Barack Obama have risen to positions of power, and are eager to exercise that power in support of radical political ideology.
The Bible describes this type of person:
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
– Proverbs 1:7 [NASB]
Just like Rehoboam, Obama despises the wisdom that comes from experience and tradition, and for this reason he does not listen to a broad cross-section of the American people, a vast number of everyday people who possess a great amount of collective wisdom, especially relative to what should not be done in the political realm:
“So the king did not listen to the people; for it was a turn of events from the LORD, that He might establish His word...”

It is easy, with the search-ability available on the internet to catalog the specifics of Obama’s insufferable arrogance, such as his unapologetic willingness to break pledges that he specifically made during his Presidential campaign:
“To achieve health care reform, “I’m going to have all the negotiations around a big table. We’ll have doctors and nurses and hospital administrators. Insurance companies, drug companies — they’ll get a seat at the table, they just won’t be able to buy every chair. But what we will do is, we’ll have the negotiations televised on C-SPAN, so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies. And so, that approach, I think is what is going to allow people to stay involved in this process.””

Obama is recorded (video and audio), publically making this promise on multiple occasions. Yet instead of keeping his campaign pledge, ObamaCare negotiations have been conducted in secret, closed-door meetings. No press allowed. No Republicans allowed. And, obviously, the negotiations have not been conducted on C-Span. Just another item in a litany of broken promises. Joe Wilson was right about Obama when he shouted out: “You lie.”
Even though it is easy, the enumeration of specifics does not reveal the lesson that is of most importance to us as Christians. That lesson, for us, is to understand the essence of Obama’s arrogant behavior. And what is that essence?
It is the refusal to listen to wise council, which comes directly or indirectly from the Bible, often through Godly people, and ultimately from God. Here’s what the Bible says about that:
“ For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel.”

Obama surrounds himself with radicals, who share his ungodly political ambitions; and he constantly takes their advice – they are his counselors.

It has also come to my attention that CW will be running its serice, “Life Unexpected” in the same time slot as the “State of the Union” farce.
Comedy Central is making a serious error in their lineup by running “Futurama” in that time slot. They should go along with the live SOTU presentation.

While Obama cuts two hundred and fifty billion from the middle class he will waste another Trillion. Cloward Piven marches forward.

Dear Mr.President, start with an across the board wage cut for all government employees excepting Military of 15%.
Propose a 15% spending cut, e.g., 15% less than was spent last year for all of the following: HUD, Agriculture, Education,HEW, Commerce.
Require net portfolio reductions for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae of 10% per annum from portfolio runoff.
Bet you haven't got the stones to even recommend these.

Expanding support for families balancing work with caring for elderly relatives with a $102.5 million Caregiver Initiative adding $52.5 million in funding to Department of Health and Human Services caregiver support programs that provide temporary respite care, counseling, training, and referrals to critical services. The administration says the extra funding will allow nearly 200,000 additional caregivers to be served and 3 million more hours of respite care to be provided. It also adds $50 million to programs that provide transportation help, adult day care, and in-home services, such as aides to help seniors bathe and cook, help which eases the burden for family members and helps seniors stay in their homes.

too was a classmate of BO’s At Columbia class of 1984. He said he never had
one class with him.

class remember him? Maybe he never attended class! Maybe he never
attended Columbia? He won’t allow Colombia to release his records

Wayne Allyn Root was, like Obama, a political science major at Columbia
who also graduated in 1983. In 2008, Root says of Obama, “I don’t know a
single person at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me. I don’t
have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia. Ever! Nobody
recalls him. I’m not exaggerating, I’m not kidding. “Root adds that he
was also, like Obama, “Class of ‘83 political science, pre-law” and says,
“You don’t get more exact or closer than that. Never met him in my life,
don’t know anyone who ever met him. At the class reunion, our 20th reunion
five years ago, who was asked to be the speaker of the class? Me. No one
ever heard of Barack! And five years ago, nobody even knew who he was.
The guy who writes the class notes, who’s kind of the, as we say in New
York, the macha who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who
ever met him. Is that not strange? It’s very strange. “Obama’s
photograph does not appear in the school’s yearbook and Obama consistently
declines requests to talk about his years at Columbia, provide school
records, or provide the name of any former classmates or friends while at
Columbia.
