what has he confessed to because no where does it state he admitted to wire tapping so lets not be too quick hey

Just from what I read O'Keefe is likely guilty of conspiracy to commit a felony and felony burglary. It doesn't matter what his purpose was in entering the building or whether these guys were there to plant bugs or to kill bugs, if he entered the Federal Building under false pretenses and conspired with others to do the same, he is going to be doing some hard time.

Well this is what happens when citizens have to do the job that law enforcement won’t do.

We have a corrupt government right on up to the top. The original patriots had to break a few rules too. If we had an FBI that was doing it’s job and a congress not in bed with ACORN there would be no need for any of this to happen.

Our leaders are criminals breaking laws left and right and getting away with it. But when the people try to do something about it they become the criminals and are thrown in jail. Welcome to bizarro world.

Your typical wire room in a federal building is an antiquated sort of thing USUALLY LEFT UNLOCKED.

Correct. I've seen enough of them in my time.

You can prove intent, but you need to have a crime as well ~ not success of a crime ~ but a crime, and "interfering" with something that's not "interferable" probably doesn't rise the level a jury will comprehend.

Correct again. Yes, unless O'Keefe freely admits to intent to do so or something comes out to contradict. As you can see from the article they were sent elsewhere:

Article: The men were directed to another office in the building where they're accused of again misrepresenting themselves as telephone repairmen.

The plausible inference here is that O'Keefe wanted access to catch Senator Landrieu for an off the cuff interview.

The FBI has a genius at work right now figuring out how these guys can do a plea that lets them completely off the hook but makes sure they don't try it again.

Yes, and at the very least give him some jazz since he has politically wounded the Obama administration.

sneak into white house
nothing

sneak into fed building and show a lack of security, big time media attention and big charges

stand outside a polling booth with sticks nothing
try to blow up a plane and get a free lawyer, nothing

for these charges it all sounds fishy but time will tell so they might be guilty or maybe not we’ll see but I don’t trust this white house nor do I trust ACORN,SEIU or obama

I’ll wait for the other side of the story, but so far that affidavit is pretty damning.

Correct. All I asked was, “What was O’Keefe thinking?” I didn’t say anything about the wiretapping.

Facilitating another’s intent to commit a crime is also a crime. If you know someone intends to break the law and you help them plan and organize it, you’re considered an accomplice.

Right or wrong, ODH?

Let’s hope he doesn’t get nailed to the wall for this........

I followed this when it broke, but it's been 'one of those afternoon's' ever since. I hope to be able to concentrate a little later.

Please ping me to any columns or article that Andrew Breibart releases. I'll be ba ASAP.

From what I understand right now, O'Keefe has only admitted that he took pics on his cell phone. Do I have that right?

What if these fellas weren’t trying to really mess with the phones but rather prove that our federal buildings are not secure and are easy targets for terrorism.

Apparently, since they were all busted, the building was secure.

Stupid does not do justice as a word to describe this idiotic plot... whatever it was. They only thing they accomplished is that they are going to be doing some hard time in Federal Prison. Maybe they can report on the security vulnerabilities of the Federal Prison system.

I believe this is political theatre. O’K was recording two people who probably clearly were not phone repair guys claiming to be phone repair guys...else why the call to the Marshall? Looks incredibly stupid...which may mean it’s not.

please tell me that you do not think that this is all above board do you?

No. No! NO! There is absolutely something not quite right going on here. What, exactly, is the guessing game we're all now playing.

Access to Federal buildings are open to the public as far as I know. Public officials therefore public access. There is security but that is to keep weapons out and to provide general security and such. Usually, the government will post warning signs saying that ‘this is a restricted area access only to authorized personal and trespassing is prohibited ‘or something similar to that effect, and at the very least the door would be locked.

If true, he shows a bit of idiocy.

If untrue, this is a bad setup.

Either way, he needs a good lawyer.

"So that should apply to the White House party crashers as well?"

That is correct, and I'm sure that is one of the charges that DC prosecutors are evaluating.

You might remember is Sacha Baron Cohen's last film (the Bruno character), he entered an Alabama National Guard base under false pretenses. If that had been a US Army base, rather than a guard base, you might have seen a prosecution in that particular case.

So far not a serious crime. You might tell the building guard that "Hey, I'm a celiac and I gotta have a toilet now", then go wandering down a hallway reading names on doors.

That would be "false pretenses". At the same time not much of a crime ~ $15 bond maybe.
