The Abdulmutallab Travesty
NRO ^ | January 26,2010 | Rich Lowry

Intending to die in the act of destroying a jetliner, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab instead landed alive in Detroit as a kind of message in a bottle from al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. He knew more about its recruiting, training, and operations than anyone who is ever likely to fall into our arms babbling like a scared 23-year-old.

But the Obama administration shut him down. It didn’t go so far as to tell the Customs and Border Protection officers to cover their ears and try not to listen when Abdulmutallab made incriminating statements on the initial ride to the hospital, but it came close. It had an FBI team inform Abdulmutallab of his right

He has no US Constitutional Rights. He is not a citizen and is in fact an enemy combatant.
He should be held by Military Officials and interrogated as nescessary to insure the safety of the citizens of the United States of America

LOTS of lies about how much he was interrogated. Not only did they eventually Mirandize him (thereby shutting him down), but they also freely decided not to question him for FIVE HOURS. He was conscious, but under the influence of a few pain meds.

The FBI wanted to cover their own rear-ends, and not get accused (per Gitmo) of “chemically torturing” him —the left would make it seem like they had dosed him with truth-serum, or something.

Remember that that was while OTHER aircraft (possibly with bombers) were closing in on the USA.

People think a simultaneous aircraft incident could never again occur, but this incident shows clearly that it COULD HAPPEN AGAIN.

The most amazing thing to me was that he was only interrogated for information relating to his own court trial and not for national security purposes. These people can’t be this incompetent. They can’t.

Two key accusations against liberals:

1. They view terrorism as a law-enforcement problem
2. They use the military as cops or social workers

In this administration, you see #1 on display here, and #2 on display in Haiti (they’re talking about a 10-year US troop commitment there).
