Where have you been? A Pakistani developed (or stole depending on your source) nuclear bomb plans. They have the bomb and lots of nutcases who might take over one day. North Korea has the technology and the bomb. Iran has the bomb underway and may have prototypes for testing within the year.

While I may agree that nations might well be more careful wth their WMDs & bombs than to sell or give them to terrorists, that is using the rational linear thought process of the West and not that of some fanatic that thinks he is the reincarnation of the 13th Caliph.

Of course it is easier to “stuff explosives up one’s butt” and they have no shortage of guys willing to do that in the short term.

However, the availability of short term measures doesn’t mean that more serious WMD options aren’t simultaneously being pursued. It’s a dangerously chauvinistic to assume that backward countries can’t have some Western trained scientists that are capable of producing biologicals.

Anthrax spores aren’t all that bulky and could be transported in similar fashion.

I have been right here, awake the whole time. I am fully aware of Pakistan’s possession of nuclear weapons. I am fully aware of the goings on in Iran as well.

I think we are missing each other here.

My point is that a GROUP, like Al Queda, is not a NATION, like Pakistan. They are not a government, and there are certain things that only a nation can do. Develop nuclear weapons are one thing. Not the sort of thing that you build in your garage. Develop biological weapons another. It takes more than a aquarium and a respirator to pull that off.

Chemical can be developed, but the needed technology, and special equipment to do so. Oh, and money. Lots of money. Money that would be better put to use sending Martyrs with PETN in their pants. The economics involved for Chemical weapons just don’t work for a group like Al Queda.

Rational thought really does not have much to do with nations passing WMDs to Terrorists. Fear of Trident MIRVs raining down should be enough. These clowns knocked down 2 buildings, and we invaded 2 countries. If any nation assisted in nuking the US, even the Hope and Change kid could not keep those missiles in their silos.

Even if they could line up a scientist to help, they need the facilities. They don’t have them. A ditch digger is useless without a shovel.
