Patrick Hughes for Senate Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund Endorses Patrick Hughes for Senate in Illinois

January 2010

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is pleased to endorse Patrick Hughes for U.S. Senate in the February 2nd Illinois Republican primary.

Patrick Hughes’ commitment to the right to keep and bear arms is unwavering.

Mr. Hughes understands that gun prohibitions turn law-abiding citizens into easier targets for violent criminals. Unlike his primary opponent, Patrick Hughes does not support laws that treat people who simply want to own a gun to protect their families like second class citizens.

The contrast between Patrick Hughes and his opponent could not be clearer, as he is running against the most anti-gun Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Mark Kirk has been in Congress since 2001, and the record he has complied voting against your gun rights could fill volumes. In his time in the House, Kirk has voted:

* To allow the FBI to keep the names of lawful gun purchasers for months, effectively creating a registration list of gun owners;

* Against arming commercial airline pilots in defense of terrorism;

* For so-called campaign finance reform, which limits the ability of groups like GOA to communicate with the voting public about congressional legislation;

* Against repealing the D.C. gun ban;

* Against a bill to prevent the government from confiscating firearms after a natural disaster, as happened when Katrina struck New Orleans; and,

* Against repealing the gun ban on National Park Service property.

Mark Kirk has not only voted consistently against your Seco1nd Amendment rights—he is an anti-gun leader as well. In 2004, Kirk urged then-Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert to extend the Clinton ban on semi-automatic firearms. After its expiration, Kirk introduced his own bill to reinstate the gun ban.

In the current session of Congress, Kirk has cosponsored a bill that will regulate gun shows out of existence and a bill to deny Second Amendment rights to the hundreds of thousands of people on the government’s “watch” list.

Were it left up to Mark Kirk, the Second Amendment would be completely abolished.

Thankfully, Prairie State gun owners and sportsmen have a choice on Tuesday, February 2nd, and that choice is Patrick Hughes.

On behalf of Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund, I urge you stand with Patrick Hughes for Senate.

You can visit Patrick on the web at http://www.patrickhughesforsenate.com/ to make a contribution to his campaign. And please, make sure all your contacts know about the importance of this race and remember to vote.

It is time for a new way of thinking in Washington. We need legislators who respect our Constitutional liberties and who will stand up to the status quo politicians.

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund urges all voters who cherish the right to keep and bear arms to vote for Patrick Hughes for U.S. Senate in the February 2nd Republican primary.

Sincerely,

Tim Macy Vice Chairman

This primary is on Feb. 2nd, only one week away. We have to stop ultra-liberal RINO Mark Kirk. We cannot cede one seat in the Senate to a McCain-RINO like Kirk. Donate Today:

Conservative Patrick Hughes vs Liberal Mark Kirk

Patrick Hughes opposes Cap and Trade It will be the largest tax increase in American History - and the largest transfer of power to the federal government since the New Deal. Mark Kirk was one of 8 Republicans who voted for it.

Patrick Hughes does not support the expansion of government or increased regulation Mark Kirk’s vote for Cap and Trade legislation supports an increase of government regulation in the lives of American families. His near decisive vote on the Cap and Trade bill also helped Democrats gain the legislative cover needed to pass the health care bill which, if put into law, would be a massive expansion of the federal government.

Patrick Hughes supports America’s progress towards energy independence Mark Kirk opposes using America’s resources to gain energy independence. He voted for prohibiting oil drilling and development in ANWR.

Patrick Hughes believes in “Peace through Strength”; a strong national defense Mark Kirk says he does too, but when the political going got tough, he was one of a handful of Republicans who voted against the surge, which was one of the single biggest turning points in the Iraq War.

Patrick Hughes supports the 2nd Amendment and the individual right to bear arms Mark Kirk gets an F rating from the NRA and an F- from Gun Owners of America. He does, however, get very high marks from groups advocating more gun control and bans.

Patrick Hughes is pro-life. He has always stood up for the rights of the unborn Mark Kirk is adamantly pro-abortion. He even voted against the ban on the hideous practice of partial-birth abortion He gets a 100% rating from both Planned Parenthood and NARAL. He is in the top tier of pro-abortion Republicans in Congress.

Patrick Hughes believes in a traditional definition of marriage Mark Kirk voted against an amendment to define marriage as between one man and one woman.

Patrick Hughes believes hate crime laws are divisive and unconstitutional Mark Kirk joined left wing Democrats in sponsoring hate crime legislation.

Have you heard Kirk’s commercials? He’s running as a fiscal conservative. It angers me so! I’ve wondered what could be done to expose his deception. No answers yet. He must be stopped. If he wins the primary, there will be a third party flanking maneuver reminiscent of NY23. Trust me on this. I have inside information. If that scenario unfolds as expected, we will need FReepers to set aside their prejudice against third parties, at least in this one case, and mount a national effort to beat Kirk with a genuine conservative. Because the even worse scenario than Kirk winning, is that the conservative base sits it out in November (due to RINO fatigue), allowing Giannoulias, the mob-favored dem, to win. This is a full-scale red alert as far as I’m concerned and we really need to pull it together.

I just posted $10.00 to Mr. Hughes tonight.

As Captain Christopher Pike said to James Kirk in the new Star Trek :

"I dare You to do better."
