WELCOME BACK RACE FANS TO DAYTONA SPEEDWEEKS WHICH BEGINS THE 2010 NASCAR SEASON
32nd annual BUDWEISER SHOOTOUT Saturday, February 6th
The race distance will continue to be 75 laps (187.5 miles) on the 2.5-mile tri-oval. The race will have two segments, of 25 and 50 laps. Both green- and yellow-flag laps will count.
Between segments, there will be a 10-minute pit stop at which time teams will pit and may elect to change tires, add fuel and make normal chassis adjustments.
Starting positions will be determined by a draw at the annual Budweiser Shootout Draw Party on Thursday night, Feb. 4, on the SPEED stage in the Midway, outside Turn 4. The Budweiser Shootout, which is scheduled for 8:10 p.m., is the climax to a racing tripleheader on Saturday, Feb. 6.
Kicking off the days activities at 1:05 p.m. will be Daytona 500 Qualifying Presented By Kroger on Fox.
At 4:30 p.m. on SPEED, the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards will kick off their season with the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 and Danica Patrick will make her much-anticipated stock car racing debut.
Gatorade Duel
Thursday February 11, 2010
Gatorade Duel At Daytona features two 150-mile qualifying races that determine the starting lineup for the Daytona 500.

That’s what’s wrong with the whole country! It’s not surprising that it has creeped, OK came with leaps and bounds, into Nascar.
I however, will stick to my God and gun clinging redneck ways.

Ah, I think I got it.
Are you refering to the “wolf” moon tonight - the largest of the year - the one that is, what, 30% bigger and 14% wider - and I should be braying or barking at it? I did a lot of that at night in the olden days when I was drinking mad dog and I didn’t need any stink’n moon to let it rip. Unfortunately there is no moon tonight in Bend, just snow falling.
It’s amazing how mellow I’m turning now that I’m 60.
I’m so far behind on NASCAR news that I’m going to need a week to catch up. I think your gonna have to remind me to pick drivers.

Humboldt Bay is having near record high tides these days and it allows for the contractor to barge ten 600 ton engines to Fiels Landing from Eureka two at a time. Then special trailers are towed by very large off highway trucks move them north on 101 in the South Bound lanes for about 3//4 of a mile to PG&Es new power plant. It happens between 2 and 5 AM. I think they moved 2 of them last night. I would like to see it but...

Just gettin’ caught up.
It’s nice to see that you’ve taken on the duties of Spokeswoman for the Commissioner. (heh-heh)
Still not so sure about that rule on runaway tires. Does it mean that a team whose tire escapes directly at an official (which he will of course stop/kick back) still will not be penalized for said errant tire?

I guess if tire is within his reach he can stop it and no penalty - might also depend on his thoughts re: the particular team in his box???
To: GRRRRR
I’m trying to get interested in the 24 hour race, but it’s hard. SPEED missed the best part already which was the driver exchange between Gurney and JJ
To: WestCoastGal
I don't think that which team it is enters into it. Of course, I could be naive about that. I do think however, that if an official stops a tire, it should be a penalty the same as if the tire left the box. After all, if the official had been standing 24 inches to one side or the other, it would have. NASCAR is wrong on the 'no penalty' call IMO.
