I think FReepers should be reminded now and again about the past. There are many who are not old enough to remember what Reagan was about.
To read his first SOTU address and then compare and contrast it with what Obama says on Wednesday will be very informative. We often get to stuck in today, and fail to look at history for guidance in the right way forward.
One of my favorite contemporary writers is Victor Davis Hanson and it is precisely his way of using his vast knowledge of history to relate to events today that I admire so much.
The answers to our problems are available to us, all we need to do is look back in history to those giants who led us through troubled times to see the way forward. Our founding fathers, Lincoln, and Reagan were able to elevate themselves to the challenge.
