Spent, prior to this regime, record deficits. Ran away from a Muslim terrorist threat. Signed an illegal Alien Amnesty. Lost control of the US Senate to the Democrats on his watch.
What would you say about that? Based just on your sort of highly selective that selective of facts, you all would of said that President did a far worse job then Bush. According to your stated world view that President should be assigned by history to rank down there with Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, U.S. Grant, and Warren Harding as one of America’s worst Presidents.

Utter Bullcrap. The ability to adhere to the Republican platform is not "impossible perfection", That is simply "getting what one has bargained for". That is not "purism".
But the lion's share of Republicans (in office) come no where near simply adhering to what is inarguably the very thing that makes them Republicans, not to mention Conservatives.
There is plenty of room for compromise. But compromise must begin AFTER the basic immovable principles of the Conservative Base are satisfied. Notice that I said "basic immovable", not "every single whim".

You could say that Ron Paul isn’t a perfect conservative either. Most conservatives agree with him 90% of the time. So why is he unacceptable? I think it is because he is a crazy nut. But then again, so is McCain.
