They want people to put more money into retirement accounts because they plan to take them over sometime down the road.
That was the first thing that came to my mind too. "We will make it easier to contribute to your IRA" could easily morph into "We'll force you to contribute more to your IRA". Then "We'll take your IRA".
Maybe it's cynical but I wouldn't trust any "help" from this government.
