In the 1980s there were black neighborhoods to the north and east of the college and hispanic neighborhoods to the south. It was a small island of upper middle class whites surrounded by people who had zero understanding or interest in the passions of the people there in.
For that reason Columbia had the same kind of fantasy feel as we enjoy today under Obama.

General Studies was not a warm and fuzzy "Joe College" kind of scene. You got off the subway, you took the course, you got back on the Subway and you left. Often that course would be at night. Forget about finding classmates. IMHO, it would be much more instructive to know what the fellow actually did, in addition to wandering around Pakistan with chums.
Of course, friendships were made, and some fellows who do remember Barack Hussein 0bama, Jr. have come forward. He did also contribute to a fringe University publication.

Where is the one Republican who has made an issue of 0bama's eligibility? Before I back anyone for President, I'll need at least 2 out of 3. And when Donofrio makes his request for a Writ of Quo Warranto in the Federal District Court of Washington, D.C., I'll also require that any claiming to be Republicans query the Attorney General about it. Publicly.
