I learned something new today - the Nazis actually had Kamikazes. There was a Luftwaffengruppe dedicated to hitting US bombers right at the end of the war.

I never knew that.

Military/History (?) Channel has a show about these pilots including a survivor of a collision. The goal was to clip the tail of a bomber then bail out if the fighter was too damaged to fly.

They weren’t kamikazes. They flew heavily armored FW-190s and generally expected to survive the ramming attack (if the survived the approach...).

The Nazis DID design some suicide aircraft - mostly human guided missiles that went with a giant bomber project. However, Hitler generally didn’t approve of suicide weapons.
