AUSTRALIANS are spooked by record high migration and also believe the country is increasingly racist, according to an exclusive poll for The Sunday Times by Galaxy Research.
Two-thirds of respondents - 66 per cent - thought the Federal Government should cap migration rates.
Of these, 72 per cent of Australians polled favoured a migration cap, while 55 per cent of those who lived here but did not consider themselves to be Australian also favoured a cap.
Leading migration expert Bob Birrell said: "It's a significant finding because it suggests public discussion of congestion and house prices may be beginning to bite."

Didn’t there use to be a cap on immigrants coming to the US? What ever happened to that? As far as I’m concerned, we should stop all immigration for five years.....or at least until we get a handle on our immigration policys and how we track them.
Stop immigration for 20 to 50 years, until we are a people again.
Save yourselves while you can Australia......I can only move from state to state so long. Western Civilization is gonna need a place for a last stand!
You cant stop immigration unless our borders are first secured and all welfare offices closed.
The was a cap and virtually a “time out” from the 1920s until the 1960s (Ted Kennedy).
Cap or not there was the Great Depression and WWII. Both limited immigration severely.
Just so that any Australian watching this post is not confused, and as information for the Americans reading this, in Australia, the conservatives are termed ‘Liberals’.
Immigration must be selective in order for it to be successful. Why import people from countries, cultures and idiologies who have no intention to ever assimilate, and who have every intention to maintain the culture they fled?
To say that all cultures are alike is simply BS. The host country must be convinced that its own culture is superior or equal to that of the immigrant’s. Why else is the immigrant willing to leave the culture of his birth? The host country must not allow the immigrant to impose his culture on it but instead force the immigrant to accept his.

I agree. But at this point, cut it off all immigration. We’ve gone too far down the wrong road and need to stop and turn around.
In other words, the exact opposite of what Western Civilization has done.

I recently considered seeking permission to emigrate to Oz but found that under the points system I couldn't come close to receiving permission (I'm far too old and am not a brain surgeon).My denial would have been reasonable because,when all is said and done,Oz,like every other country,has the right to decide which immigrants can be of most benefit.So why do countries like Oz,the US and other western countries allow so many immigrants to settle who don't even "speak the language"...which is *enormously* important?

A big percentage.
Indonesians, Malay and many from the Middle East (Lebanese).
It is the latter which is causing the race riots against other communities in Australia, in recent times, especially against foreign students.
