The former six-term congressman stepped down Friday as host of his conservative talk radio program on a radio station in Phoenix.

"We will formally announce at a later time, but we're moving forward to challenge John McCain," Hayworth told the Associated Press. "I think we all respect John. I think his place in history is secure. But after close to a quarter-century in Washington, it's time for him to come home."

He did not pluck her out of subarctic obscurity as a favor to her. He did it only because he thought it would benefit himself. She owes him NOTHING. Her rise is a result of who she is. There is nothing gracious or classy about supporting the evil that is McCain. There is nothing gracious or classy about contributing to the destruction of our republic, our future, our way of life.
She has NO obligation to advance what she finds to be wrong. Does she find him to be bad for the country? Going rogue, indeed.

Need to research why hayworth lost his representative seat a few years back. Was he outcampaigned, skeletons? . As much a jackass mccain is, he is a sitting senator. Not impossible to overcome, but quite formidable.

I’ve read on a few different threads that he was gerrymandered out. I’d like to know for sure, myself.

Palin owes McCain.....

This loyalty stuff makes me wretch! If she hasn’t heard the stinking ad McCain has been running against JD Hayworth for weeks, already, she’s dumb as a rock.
If her loyalty is to double crosser, pro-amnesty McCain, over the people of AZ and conservatism, her time is up, and she needs to go home.
We’re dumping McCain, and if Sarah gets dumped in the process, tough.

McCain is latching onto Palin & Brown like a bloated tick - trying to make the tea party movement his own resource. I believe John McCain is an evil two-faced fraud. I know for a fact he has been very bad for our country.

I know Sarah feels a sense of loyalty because McCain picked her for VP - but he picked her for his own selfish needs. She & Brown both need to wake up! It’s politics as usual for Juan & it’s going to taint these two before they even get started.

From what I know of J.D. Hayworth, he is a good conservative & he should be supported against the mavericky Juan McCain IN THE PRIMARIES. NOW! Palin & Brown are going to have to reassess their support of this conniving professional politician, or they may be permanently damaged. McCain is intent on re-election and destroying the tea party movement.

This is Governor Palin's Waterloo right here.
She needs to rethink her decision to support McCain.
Arizonians should enthusiastically support Hayworth regardless of Palin.

“Yep, McCain has Brown and Palin and probably the governor. Bad idea, Hayworth.”

Palin will not be able to deliver the Tea Party vote to McCain. McCain is one of the most hated incumbents. He stands for none of their values... It’s a bad deal for Palin. McCain didn’t even carry his own state in the ‘08 presidential election.

For myself, I’d rather have a blue dog democrat than McCain.

With the NRSC endorsing sitting Gov. Charlie Crist the hour he announced, I would hardly call that an open seat especially since Rubio had announced months before. The NSRC offered absolutely no help to Brown so a lot of help the machine did for him. With being an incumbent, especially a political turn-coat like McCain, all bets are off. Now that JD is getting into the race, voters will again start to focus in on their choices.

Wonder if Kerry and the Bamster will campaign for John?

The problem with McCain is that he wouldn't be that much of a problem if he were a Democrat. As a Republican, he picks just the right moment to hit us in the back of the knees and take away political momentum.

While I voted for him, I suspect he might have done more damage than Zero. One of the nice things about the Bamster is he's lazy. Hillary and her flying monkeys made sure that legislation was prepared and in the works when she was in the WH. Obama tells congress, "Ya'll take care of this." and goes and eats ice cream. One thing I noticed early in this administration is that a lot of the cabinet seats simply weren't filled, the WH had no basic stimulus package legislation prepared beyond, "gimme some money so I can fix stuff" and that important decisions weren't made badly, they just weren't made.

With McCain in the WH, and the makeup of congress being the same, health care passes. It probably would have a few different dog scraps thrown to Republicans, like "The NY Times will say nice things about President McCain for a period of two weeks" but essentially, the driving force behind this was Pelosi, not the Bamster. With McCain in the WH, there's no way the Republican minority could have held firm against a president from their own party, and make no mistake, McCain would have signed off on it after requesting a couple of flourishes for window dressing.

Excellent analysis of past and potential future candidates V-man, I haven't made a firm decision on ANY candidate at this point although I have always believed that if the GOP really wants to win, they need to go 'Back to the Future' and nominate an Eisenhower-like figure of unquestioned military experience, personal integrity and popular appeal. After all, America is still in a state of war contrary to the kumbaya-brigade currently in charge.

And I've got someone in mind, who would probably have to be drafted (and hopefully he would accept), FRiends, I give you retired General Peter Pace, USMC - former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, a Marine's Marine, and although I was never in the Corps, I would follow him anywhere:
