Mass. Result Has Boxer Foes Smelling Blood in Calif.
The New York Times ^ | January 21, 2010 | COLIN SULLIVAN

SAN FRANCISCO -- The three Republicans vying for the chance to unseat Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) this fall were tripping over themselves yesterday in a rush to capitalize on momentum generated by a rare special-election upset in a liberal stronghold 3,000 miles away.

Separate statements from the campaigns -- from former Rep. Tom Campbell, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina -- had managed within hours to form a three-part swipe at Boxer, the chairwoman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. Their message was this: Barbara Boxer, you're next.

DeVore's version was typical. "This is not the first time the Bay State has started a revolution," he said. "Now it's up to us to continue what began in Massachusetts, and return common-sense conservative and constitutional principles to the center of American governance."

Campbell attacked "Barbara Boxer's reckless abuse of our tax money," while Fiorina, the candidate who recently transferred $2.5 million of her own money into her campaign's checking account, pledged to "hold [Boxer] accountable for her failed record."

Tom Campbell vs. Barbara Boxer: Poles Apart on Federal Spending

The National Taxpayers Union Foundation calculates two measures of spending by individual US Senators and Members of the House of Representatives. The first is a numeric grade (for earlier years), later replaced by a letter grade, based on how each legislator voted on bills that increased federal spending. The second is a ranking of each legislator based on the dollar value of the total net cost of the bills introduced or co-sponsored by the legislator.

Congressman Tom Campbell served in the House of Representatives for four years with then-Congresswoman Barbara Boxer. Their spending records in the House can be compared directly. For five more years, Tom Campbell served in the House while Barbara Boxer served in the Senate. A comparison for those years is also possible, although not exact because the bills in each chamber were not identical.

Both kinds of measurement by the National Taxpayers Union Foundation put Tom Campbell and Barbara Boxer at opposite ends of the federal spending spectrum. For two years, Congressman Tom Campbell voted for the least net spending by any member of the House. In contrast, for the year 1994 only one Senator received a worse spending score than Barbara Boxer.

As California’s newest Senator, Tom Campbell will build on his proven record of conserving the tax payers’ money and opposing the growth of federal spending.

Common-sense and constitutional principles are not alive and well in Californis, with a huge amount of illegals and products of illegals voting boxer may win.

Carly Fiorina would only be marginally better than Boxer. Let’s hope we can start getting California back on track. Bush and Rove and their guy Parsky really wrecked the party there.

Boxer joined the left of the left wing Bernie Sanders (I-VT) today to oppose Ben Bernake for another 4 year term as Fed Chief. Keep digging Barbara.

Even if she wins, every dime the Donks spend on keeping Boxer is a dime they can't spend anywhere else. I doubt they expected to spend serious money holding a seat in California. But they'll have to if they want to keep it. That leaves less money to help, oh, say, Harry Reid.

I can see the Ad showing that “Call me Senator” scene when speaking to a decorated General who made the “terrible error” of referring to her as “Maam” when answering question (i.e. Yes Maam). They might also want to show the President of the Black Chamber of Commerce accusing her questioning of him as being racist.

I beg you to also work to get Pelosi out of office.

Her arrogance has to be a total embarassment to all of California who can read & write English.

It’s on June 8. I hope R’s put Tom in. As an Independent, I can’t vote for him.

From the article:

“Moreover, there is a huge Latino population in California, with whom Boxer resonates very well.”

Thanks a bunch, Juan McCain!
