WASHINGTON -- The backing of the White House, promised after his party switch, has aided Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter's re-election campaign in several ways.
President Barack Obama and Vice President Joseph R. Biden have both made fundraising appearances in Pennsylvania for Mr. Specter, and the campaign has at its disposal the legions of Organizing for America, the grass-roots arm of the Democratic National Committee.
Mr. Specter also has been able to parade Cabinet secretaries around the state. In recent months, Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan both have examined their operations and met with voters in the Pittsburgh area.
But in the most critical area -- votes -- the president might not be the draw that Mr. Specter envisioned in April.

I'll give Benedict Specter some credit; he took every sling and arrow at town hall meetings and refused to cancel them despite the massive abuse he took personally and professionally. However it's 100% obvious that it had no effect on him and he learned nothing from it.
Casey is nothing but a well worn political hack. He's never held an office down without running for another one before his term was up. If it weren't for his family name he wouldn't have amounted to a hill of beans in this state. I suspect he's in danger of getting flipped too after his votes.
Of course, if RNC is left to counter this, it WILL work!

Friend --
Yesterday's disappointing election results show deep discontent with the pace of change. I know the OFA community and the President share that frustration.
We also saw what we knew to be true all along: Any change worth making is hard and will be fought at every turn. While it doesn't take away the sting of this loss, there is no road to real change without setbacks along the way.
We could have simply sought to do things that were easy, that wouldn't stir up controversy. But changes that aren't controversial rarely solve the problem.
Our country continues to face the same fundamental challenges it faced yesterday. Our health care system still needs reform. Wall Street still needs to be held accountable. We still need to create good jobs. And we still need to continue building a clean energy economy.
The President isn't walking away from these challenges. In fact, his determination and resolve are only stronger. We must match that commitment with our own.
But it won't be easy. Real change never is. For that reason, I am grateful you're part of this fight with us.
Thank you,
Mitch

We must harry up and select a Republican candidate.
Now wait a minute. Now wait a minute. Now wait a minute.
They will only change themselves — into burnt toast.
A friend of mine who lives near Pittsburgh who is mostly apolitical went into a rant on the phone the other day about voting every single official out of office. He surprised me but the same sentiment that was in Mass. is brewing in PA.
I think the discontent is nationwide. The dems were caught flat-footed in Mass.,now they’re trying to whistle pat the graveyard.
Spector needs to pick out a nursing home and a comfortable rocking chair.

Whole lot of garbage like Spincter Specter who shold just retire or else they are going down to de feet.
Hear me RINO?
Hear me socialists?
Hear me amnesty backers?
Hear me Health care grabbers?
You all are going down.
“Spector needs to pick out a nursing home and a comfortable rocking chair.”
I agree—except for the chair.
Exactly. Spector is 84 years old. If he gets re-elected that menas he will be in office till 90 (assuming he doesn’t die first). What is is with these guys? They are so addicted to power that they can’t bring themselves to let go, even in their dottage. I appreciate hard work, but I don’t plan to “work” a day after 70, and perhaps before. Kick back and enjoy your twilight years. Jeeze......
Is “Organizing for America” the American-style fascist youth started up by that crypto-Nazi Soros?
I’m not familiar with this group.
re: voting every single official out of office
Nothing less will do the job. Sure, a few good ones will be tossed out with the others, but if they’re worth their salt they’ll be back. Those who are turned out and aren’t sharp enough to find the way back shouldn’t be there to start with!
And, as another poster pointed out yesterday, send the staffs packing with along them!
Specter is finished!
