A Michigan judge on Wednesday ordered former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to pay more than $300,000 to taxpayers in the next three months to avoid returning to jail, including nearly a quarter million in loans from a trio of prominent businessman that he hadn't previously disclosed.
The flamboyant former mayor has been in and out of court in recent months after being accused by local prosecutors of trying to avoid payment of $1 million in restitution he owes the city stemming from multiple felony convictions, including perjury.
Mr. Kilpatrick, a former college football player who was known as the "hip hop" mayor, agreed in the fall of 2008 to pay the restitution after admitting he perjured himself by lying about an affair with his chief of staff and paying out millions of city dollars in part to keep it quiet.
Mr. Kilpatrick, who has served a stint in jail already, has paid about $80,000 in restitution so far, but last year tried to reduce his payments to just $6 a month saying he was unable to make ends meet.
Separately, a former aide was indicted for bribery by the Justice Department Wednesday. The aide is accused of multiple counts of bribery and extortion.

They should throw his hippity-hoppity ass in jail and give him a six dollar credit towards his fine for each day his corrupt butt is in there, until it’s paid off.
I grew up in the formerly-great City of Detroit, and it’s POS’s like him that brought it to the state it is in now.
