Martin Luther King Niece Says Planned Parenthood Lying About Her Uncle

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The niece of Martin Luther King Jr. is upset that the nation's biggest abortion business is once again linking itself with the civil rights leader. She says the abortion giant is misrepresenting King's receiving its Margaret Sanger Award decades ago.

The Planned Parenthood Federation of America says King received the award in 1966 to recognize “individuals’ excellence and leadership in furthering reproductive health and rights” and that it is named after its founder.

The abortion business says it works “in the tradition of Dr. King’s call for equity in health care” and to correct problems in the health care system that disproportionately affect “people of color.”
Planned Parenthood says King accepted the award, saying, "We had confidence that when we awakened the nation to the immorality and evil of inequality, there would be an upsurge of conscience followed by remedial action."

But Alveda King, his niece, tells LifeNews.com today that's just not the case.

“Every year Planned Parenthood tries to imply that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would approve of what it does today because he received an award from the organization 44 years ago,” she said. “Every year they lie."

"My Uncle stood for equal protection and non-violence – two concepts that Planned Parenthood violates every day by being the nation’s largest abortion business," Alveda King continued.

“Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. did not attend the event where his award was presented. We don't even know if he wrote the words of the acceptance speech that was read at the banquet,” she explained. “In 1966, abortion on demand was unthinkable. To imply that Uncle Martin’s receipt of that award constitutes his endorsement of what Planned Parenthood engages in today – the destruction of human lives – is an outrage.”

Father Frank Pavone, the head of Priests for Life, also talked about Planned Parenthood's misuse of the King legacy and name.

He told LifeNews.com that undercover footage shows Planned Parenthood lying to clients about abortion, the development of unborn children and covering up cases of sexual abuse.

So, to him, it's no surprise that the abortion business would misrepresent the slain civil rights leader.

“Videotape reveals that Planned Parenthood doesn't tell the truth to women and doesn't tell legal authorities about possible criminal activity,” he said. “Its implied claims about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. are just more of Planned Parenthood’s stock in trade -- deceit.”

They kill babies. Do you expect them to tell the truth about anything?

I believe Dr. King would absolutely be on the side of life. God bless his niece.

I’ve heard that Rev. M. L. King, Jr., his father, also Rev. King, and his grandfather were registered as Republicans, but that the last of that line changed his party registration in making some kind of a bargain with the Johnson administration. Can anyone here shed credible light on this scenario?

Someone called into Rush in the last days or so and said the exact same thing EXCEPT that the deal was with the JFK administration - at the time that JFK sent the guard down to one of the southern colleges.
