Well...I certainly haven't done that and would agree with you.
Have you referred to Keyes as a nut, or the like, and/or have you rejected his arguments based on his loss of previous elections? If so, I would say that that represents, at a minimum, a distortion of Alan Keyes.
Uh, yes, he said just that. I cut and pasted that exact quote from the article. If you are willing to deny Keyes' own words, there is no point in further discussion with you. Have a good day.
“OK, then here is a reasoned rebuttal that has already been posted:”
Really? You’re rebutting the proposition that Keyes is a real conservative by posting numbers that show a liberal beat him in an election?
Actually, I think even a DUmmy would blush to assert that said election was an accurate indication of Keyes’ viability as a candidate, given the circumstances. I literally winced when I heard that he had agreed to step in at the 11th hour, because I knew the pubbies would not support him.
I reject his electoral advice based on his loss of previous elections, which IMO is quite rational. It would be like going to Charles Barkley on how to win an NBA Championship, instead of to Michael Jordan.
And your post is grounded in the typical delusion of the purist, malcontent pretending to be a "conservative".
FYI: One issue does not a RINO make. Get your head out of that dark, stinky place.
It is the RINO cliques archetypal GOP candidate who has no differences in principle with the socialist minded Democrats, not Scott Brown.
And by saying Brown is the poster child, he says Brown epitomizes that. If you are that desperate to defend lying by warping the concept of 'poster child', that is almost as pathetic as the lying itself.
“Uh, yes, he said just that. I cut and pasted that exact quote from the article. If you are willing to deny Keyes’ own words, there is no point in further discussion with you.”
Of all the possible reactions, I didn’t guess that blind denial would raise its ugly head.
Are you really so obdurate that you won’t finish reading my note, or go back to the original and check your reading?
You misread it. Keyes’ didn’t say that.
You’ve been advised. From here on, your every repetition of that statement will be not a mistake, but a lie.
Big words from someone who just tried to change the long-time meaning of the word poster child.
Wanna parse 'is' next?
“And by saying Brown is the poster child, he says Brown epitomizes that. If you are that desperate to defend lying by warping the concept of ‘poster child’, that is almost as pathetic as the lying itself.”
How disappointing to see you stretch for that, even after I discussed it in my note. I had hoped to find that you had more intellectual honesty than that.
I guess you’re right; there really is no point in continuing.
To me, the fact that Alan Keyes can't get elected dog catcher, as you say, says less about Alan Keyes than it does the electorate, and specifically the Republican electorate.
I think you’re missing the point. Even though Reagan had bedrock conservative principles, he still backed those that were less than bedrock, & didn’t go around calling them RINOS like we’ve seen here w/ Keyes et al.
There have been some here in this very thread espousing the “all or nothing” mentality. It’s not uncommon here.
I agree w/ you however that a problem the GOP has had is not w/ the liberal states, but often running RINOS in Conservative states. Especially given recent events, it’s time to seize the moment in those areas. Will they?
Lastly, I’m as big a fan of Reagan as there is, but you do realize he wasn’t 100%. Look up his record on gun control & amnesty. Doesn’t lessen him one iota in my mind.
I am not going to engage with you. I find your pontificating arrogant and sadly boring. There is a certain personality in some FR posters that seems myopic and humorless. When I come across them, I move on.
Yep, words have meaning, and there is no point in trying to debate someone like you who tries to change the clear meaning of a term like 'poster child'.
“I am tired of politicians with political sense, but I am more tired of the electorate that can be so easily swayed by Madison Avenue political campaigns and media attempts to frame political views based on untruths.
To me, the fact that Alan Keyes can’t get elected dog catcher, as you say, says less about Alan Keyes than it does the electorate, and specifically the Republican electorate.”
Bears repeating.
Perhaps it would be like going to Charlie Lau for hitting advice, or asking a pitcher who had a cup of coffee in the majors like Tommy Lasorda to try to make World Series winning decisions
Another poster (Eternal Vigilance) previously posted this on the thread (post 197):
From Scott Brown, who helped craft and push through the RomneyCare socialized medicine scheme, during last week's debate with Coakley:
"I can do better. We can go down there and hold the line. We can go back to the drawing board on health care. As the forty-first Senator I can tell them to do better, and try again and get something like we have here in Massachusetts."
That certainly doesn't sound like opposition to federal government run health care. It does sound constitutional either.
“Yep, words have meaning, and there is no point in trying to debate someone like you who tries to change the clear meaning of a term like ‘poster child’.”
When the law is against you, argue the facts. When the facts are against you, argue the law. When both are against you, call the other fellow a scoundrel.
I heard elsewhere (I think it was on TV) where Brown said that health care reform is a state issue. We’ll find out more once he settles in.
If I were interested in just winning a political campaign, I may got to David Axelrod.
If I am interested in defeating liberalism and protecting the Constitution with sound reason, then Keyes is one of the go to guys.
“I find your pontificating arrogant and sadly boring.”
Horse hockey. You’re just embarrassed that you stepped on your hooter.
