S. Korea, U.S. out to break N. Korea's pattern of belligerence: official
By Byun Duk-kun
SEOUL, Jan. 19 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and the United States will not give in to North Korea's demands in order to resume negotiations on ending the North's nuclear ambition, saying that this time, they will try to "break" the communist nation's pattern of brinkmanship, a foreign ministry official said Tuesday.
The remarks came one day after North Korea said for the second time in a week it will not return to the six-nation nuclear talks until U.N.-imposed sanctions on the country are removed.
N. Korea pushed herself into a corner by currency reform fiasco. Usual bullying tactics are no longer working as a way to secure much needed economic aids to alleviate the problem. For the first time in many years, they are feeling real pressure.
Ping!
The way to break North Korea’s pattern of brinkmanship is to fully blockade the country by sea, threaten its immediate and total destruction by nuclear weapons, and demand the head of Kim Jong-Il and his son on pikes.
In seriousness, do a blockade of North Korea and cut off all aid. If they starve, they starve...or try to change governments. The U.S. will then have to convince China it had best stay within its own borders. As it stands, North Korea will never stop playing the game until China decides it’s time to stop. It’s baffling that the South Koreans seriously believe that, should Kim fall, the Koreas will immediately move to unify. The possibility that China will immediately drive south to the 38th parallel to “prevent widespread instability” is beyond their conception.
I suppose this means we’ll see more super notes floating around Asia again.
Bump.
