To: Comparative Advantage
"What if it is 50,000 or 60,000? The are plenty of children in the U.S. that need adoptive parents, too. Separate the emotion from this recent event and let’s instead focus on all of the kids already here that would love to be adopted."

Yes, I would have a problem with 50K or 60K. I guess my "magic" number is around 10K. I think anything less than 10K is manageable for the richest country in the world.

On another thread I think the number of orphans in Haiti was 150,000. Pre -quake. I image it could be twice that or more now.

In Hondurus, many of the kids in orphanages do have families. The family just doesn’t want them/ can’t support them. I wonder if that is true in Haiti?
