Correct me if I am wrong but are these children not already paired up with adoptive families or under contract with adoption agencies here?
If that is the case, I applaud bringing those children to the United States to be placed with their future families. I am an adoptive parent and it was heartbreaking to see the couple interviewed on the news about their little guy who was waiting on the paperwork (14 months) to be finalized so they could finally complete the adoption. They had already traveled to Haiti to meet the little guy.
There are numerous families who are more than willing to adopt these children and raise them to be fine Americans. We have several friends who wish to adopt.
I don’t understand those who continue to equate this with illegal immigration. These are children!

Yup. That’s what I understood too.
DITTOS!!!
I agree. I think the more children that American families are willing to adopt, the better.
The key is here is adopt.
Wow, you posted my sentiments exactly. I have nothing more to add.

A friend’s grandaughter has been waiting over two years on the paperwork. What’s up with that?
Yes, I know several families who are in the adoption process and what they are trying to do now is get the process expedited.
Staying in Haiti is certain death. I just question the follow-up on this, that they will ever be returned to Haiti. If adopted and granted legal US citizenship, bless them.
If they stay illegally indefinately due to government ineptitude is my concern.
