Scott Brown is a solid center-right Republican from the most liberal state in the nation.

On all the major issues, he is conservative: WOT, homo marriage, taxes and spending, foreign policy.

He is libertarian on abortion - No taxpayer funding, supports restrictions, etc.

If he does go RINO, we can always vote him out in 2012.

Don't let the haters get to you. These people bashing Brown would rather "stand on principle" which won't get them anywhere except the East Coast version of Barbara Boxer.

his official position is that abortion should always be legally available.

As long as there's no TAXPAYER FUNDING of it and/or abortion restrictions, then it's a logical stand from a first-step perspective, and from someone who represents an ultra-liberal state.

I am pro-life, but I'm also a realist. Abortion is not going to be overturned overnight. Brown will vote against Obamacare which contains massive funding for abortion. Brown will support further restrictions and he will vote against pro-abortion judges.

Let's not kid ourselves here. Too much is at stake to start nitpicking. The alternative is a pro-abortion Marxist who'll continue the slaughter. Brown is a victory for life.

Then suddenly she found herself in a competitive political race. And how did Coakley respond? She threw a political tantrum. Voters were deluged with Coakley’s attack ads - so many they could barely fit in the commercial breaks. Dark, ominous and ugly, Coakley’s media message was the polar opposite to that offered by smiling Scott Brown.

IOW, Deeds vs. McDonnell all over again. Morons didn't learn the lessons from THAT race, while Scott Brown apparently did.

The GOP resurgency is being fueled by the grassroots and the Tea Party Movement - which is commons-sense Conservative and rooted in the values of small government and fiscal restraint, and appeals to people across the political spectrum.

You start attacking that sort of thing by calling it "astroturf" and "extremism" and the result is a group (a GROWING group) of angry but extremely well-motivated political activists. That kind of backing is what EVERY campaign manager dreams of, and apparently the Dem's have completely lost sight of (since it was exactly this sort of thing that propelled Obama to the Dem nomination two years ago).

I am not against Brown by any means but there is no need to paint him as a conservative pro lifer when it is clear that he is not. Someone up thread said he was pro life and that he was basically playing semantics. Saying that it should always be kept legal is not playing semantics.

I agree that he isn’t all or nothing. He does support restrictions on abortion and that is better than the death loving liberals.

"Good looking family."

Indeed. Of course, Gail (AKA "Gail Huff") is a Boston TV personality, and Ayla is on American Idol...

Last time we and the Browns ate out at the same place, our daughters were in college, and the Brown girls were in elementary/middle school -- and the girls hit it off famously!. The four girls moved to their own table, while we adults yakked about -- whatever..

The Browns are not only "good looking", they are genuinely nice and friendly folks.

~~~~~~
FWIW, I just called my son, who still lives in MA, and he said (before I asked), "We are looking forward to voting for Brown tomorrow." Then he shared how impressed he was when Scott (a National Guard JAG LTC) visited his MassNG unit to help them with legal issues...
Can’t say that often enough!
I’d want to know a hell of a lot more about his political viewpoint before I tout him for the executive branch. At this point, he is less known than Sarah Palin was when she was selected as VP candidate.
Did you ever vote for George HW Bush? He was pro-abortion until Reagan phoned him in 1980.
"I’d want to know a hell of a lot more about his political viewpoint before I tout him for the executive branch"
I'm not "touting" him, so much as I am recognizing a political reality. If you're charismatic enough to compete in a state as liberal and Democrat as Massachusetts, then your political future is bright. It's one thing for a conservative Republican to win in a conservative state, it's quite something else for a conservative to win in Massachusetts.
God told Jeremiah: “Before you were formed in the womb I knew you...”
Pastor you're right, but if I was in MA I would vote for him. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, until I can find a real friend. I know, it's pragmatic but looking into the abyss of obamanation I will support the lesser of two evils to stop it.
I never said he was or portrayed him as a true pro-lifer.
He is libertarian on abortion which is a mainstream position and the logical first step in ending all abortions.
We should support Brown strategically. He is the stop-gap that will stop the Obama leftist agenda and will usher in more conservatives who will respect life.
It wasn’t the Hindenburg or the Titanic. It was the Hindenburg crashing into the Titanic.
Damn near the funniest line I've read in a long time.
......as Scott volunteered when we first met, "I'm an officer in the Army National Guard -- and I carry."... (Strong 2nd Amendment supporter).........
Thanks for contributing that to this thread -- I saw that on another thread, and I kept obsessing that I HAD to add it to the list when I got the chance.
=========================
Here are some of Scott Brown’s positions:
He opposes partial-birth abortion,
He opposes federal funding for abortion,
He supports strong parental notification laws.
He favors the death penalty.
He is against gay marriage.
He questions whether global warming is man-made or natural.
In favor of a strong military.
He's a Lieut Colonel in the Army National Guard.
A strong 2nd Amendment supporter.
I was a little skeptical when Brown surged onto the scene. But, after doing some research, I find he's not a RINO. While he may not score a 100 from the ACU, he's a solid Republican and a fairly conventional conservative, which makes his showing in MA all the more surprising. He is NOT cut from the same cloth as Collins, Snowe or Graham, to say the least.
Hope you will allow me to quote you in future threads.
