"You can live on protein and saturated fats and never eat a carb and be perfectly healthy."

Only if you haven't already destroyed your liver, galbladder, pancreas, and kidneys eating white bread, frenchfries, margarine, fructose, and skimmed milk.

Average or normal doesn’t mean anything without a breakdown of the components

It is the HDLs and TRIs that are the real numbers that matter from what I have read

As far as animals

Primates are the closet to humans —and they are vegans as far as I know

Saturated fats are good for you. They raise your HDL.

I raised mine with almonds and olive oil and no rise in LDLs

In the UK, gubmint pays for your healthcare. If they are paying the bill, it is their right, indeed their duty to save taxpayer money.

The smokers tried to warn them...

“your right to eat butter ends where my wallet begins”.

Welcome to Hell.

I hate margarine. To me butter is luxury, and while I may not eat it every day. I will “budget” my fat intake to allow butter a few times weekly and more often when I’m not trying to get rid of holiday pounds.

Do yourself a favor and do some research on Coconut oil. Most doctors know nothing about nutrition. Coconut oil is a heart healthy oil. It is a mono saturated fat but contain a number of extremely beneficial substances. The corn oil and other vegetable oil producers spread the lie that palm or coconut oil was bad for you to increase their market share, just like corn producers convinced people that corn syrup was a healthy substitute for sugar. We now know that it has been instrumental in the epidemic of obesity.
