Really...all these years I was under the impression that the native language of Haiti was creole-bastardized French.

In PaP, most everybody speaks a little English, not so much so out in the country. But it's a bit hard to understand (especially with rotor blades making a lot of noise right over your head).

I wouldn't call it "bastardized French", that's a little stiff. It's a patois, fairly common in the Caribbean, but French based instead of English based.

My very fluent French-speaking friend had a hard time making herself understood to Creole speakers.
