“I haven’t read the article you suggest, but I seriously doubt President Bush ever ignored Cheney,...” Cheney was quoted as saying so.
We’ll have to agree to disagree on the bailout.
Good luck on your hunt.

Bush and Kerry flunked two and three college courses respectively. Their cumulative averages were an unimpressive ranking in the mid 70s.

Bush could barely string together a coherent paragraph. His lack of vocabulary was embarrassing.

Bush DID lower taxes. He DID keep us safe from more terror attacks. He did appoint conservative justices to the Federal Courts.

BUT

Bush allowed Mexico to dump millions of illegal aliens into America. More than that, he aided and abetted them in doing so.

His administration persecuted American border guards and American citizens who endeavored to do what his administration FAILED to do - defend our borders.

He said he would not support any laws making English the Official Language of America.

He attempted to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens along with Ted Kennedy and John McCain.

He tried to appoint a family hack - Harriet Miers - to the Supreme Court until his own party pressured him to select a qualified justice.

He attempted to contract out with an ARAB MUSLIM STATE - Dubai - to handle our Port security.

He appointed another family hack to head FEMA which is one of the reasons the Katrina disaster was so terrible.

He waited until the last minute to lift the ban his Daddy imposed on drilling on the coast of America and on the Alaskan North Slope while gasoline and energy prices were screwing Americans and the economy into the ground.

He did nothing to try and stem the catastrophic rise in energy prices which contributed to the current recession.

He went through with his damn bail program at the end of his term when all the polls indicated Americans were dead set against it.

He got us bogged down in FRUITLESS nation-building in Iraq and Afghanistan. It cost us and continues to cost us a fortune in American lives and dollars and we are getting NOTHING out of it.

He allowed idiotic rules of engagement to once again hamstring our troops - just like Johnson did in Viet Nam.

He said he would sign into law an assault rifle ban renewal.

He appointed nitwits like Chrissy Whitman to his administration. Remember Norman Minetta and his no guns for pilots and frisking little old Swedish American ladies from Minnesota at airports????

He really DID believe Islam was a “religion of peace” and failed to take adequate steps to reduce or eliminate Islamic immigration and travel into the U.S after 9-11.

He appointed that pompous bag of wind, Tom Kean Senior as chairman of the 9-11 commission, along with Jamie Goreleck who should have been a TARGET of the commission.

He stopped the military’s planned attack on Falujah after the Fallujans butchered those American contractors and strung their bodies up.

Bush RECOGNIZED the problem created by Democrat manipulation of Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae and failed to press them on it.

Bush did NOTING to stop the unfair trade practices of the Red Chinese or the continued erosion of our manufacturing base and American jobs overseas.

He did nothing to stop the flow of dangerous food products, consumer goods and medicines from Communist China into America.

I’m sick and tired of Bushbots attempting to whitewash his term of office.

Bastard got my vote, my money and support twice.

“To save time...the bailout was not a left right thing, it was a reasonable (and correct) economic strategy.”

It was bad policy.

When companies make bad choices, they should be forced to face the consequences, just like a mom and pop grocery store.

FURTHER, the precedent was used by his successor for even more egregious violations of the free enterprise system.

A short spell of temporary pain is preferable to decades of misery.

Cheney is still a great man, and I agree that he would have been a great president.

JFK was the only Kennedy worth anything.

Nope. His older brother Joe was killed in WW II and never had a chance to pollute the political scene.

(But then, who reads the “Boston Globe” ?)
