PHOTOS: Earthquake hits Haiti

I’m still trying to think of a funny response to that. Standby.
There is no doubt that Haiti already had some people who had no regard for law or other humans.
There is no doubt there are some who think they are going to somehow 'gain' by taking more than they need to survive. I hope the 'security' forces can sort these out from those who are taking what they need because they have no other choice.
I noticed that in this article, (everyone seems to be focused on the Obama looter guy and hasn't seem to even read the rest of the article nor captions), there are other (so called) LOOTERS who were taking things like POWDERED MILK.
Probably for his child. They even had him down on the ground, whereas the Obama looter guy isn't even being touched. I think Freeper readers might be missing the real point if they don't look at all the pictures and see the truth for themselves.
He, Cooper, may have been handing them out.
I heard today that the Haiti quake was a release of 3X the energy of the North Ridge quake. I have a feeling that might have hurt even high quality structures. Not as much, for sure, but still ...
EXACTLY!!!
Count all you want. You aren’t going to get one. I still can’t fathom how you can look at all that destruction and tragedy and cluck over the fact that one “looter” was wearing an Obama T-shirt. I don’t really give a cr@p whether you were the first person to identify the person as a looter or not; I still think that your comments are to the misdemeanor of Free Republic.

I quote: “[See Pic #7: Looter with Obama T-shirt]”
That comment was not made by the LA Times.
You might get shot too and I wouldn't shed a tear over it. There have been a couple of stories done on Port Au Prince shop owners sleeping in the rubble of their businesses to try and protect what they have. There are good people there who have worked hard for what they have and built up a decent business in spite of the environment there. Why should they lose even the last scraps of it to some worthless street thugs?
And I agree, the caption stands, because that is what the reporter put there, regardless to the reason or situation, and I certainly don't fault you in any way, shape, or form for that fact.
You are digging your hole deeper, bleeding heart.
I have not looked at all the photos. just the one linked and the next one in series.
“sarcasm, but someone actually wrote nearly those exact words on Twitter last night - then expressed deep shame for America that anyone here could call anyone at all a ‘looter’”
“what belongs to them”
Communism 101
You make good points too.
Haiti earthquake (Carolyn Cole / Los Angeles Times / January 15, 2010) A Haitian police officer ties up a suspected looter who was carrying a bag of canned milk.
If you go to the link, the reporter did claim that the Obama t-shirt guy is a looter.
Just because someone notes what is in an article doesn’t mean they agree, or are defending it. It may mean just the opposite.
For all we know, these young men pictured may have stolen money from a bank, and they are being told to put their hands on their heads by an armed guard off camera. It is hard to tell.
So, lighten up Francis.
He’s wearing an 0bama shirt therefore he is a Looter.
Unless he has no idea who our Commie-in-Chief is.
If Democrats aren’t looters, then there is no such thing.
So, seriously, you’re in the middle of this and you are fully aware that you must get water, food, shelter (which may be a blanket). Are you going to patiently wait for the rescue planes? Before you answer check out the logistical problems the rescue people need to overcome to help just a few. It may be weeks before you (and they) will get water, food, tents. So really, you’re going to wait?
If it's food and water, they should give it away. If it is not, then you have a point.
The real issue is that we don't really know what it's like in Haiti, and the reporter may or may not be telling the truth. Or do we have unfailing trust in the MSM these days?
I might note that of all the reporters who are currently in Haiti (clogging the airports with their private jets), not a one of them has a speck of dust or blood on their clothes.
The LA Times photographer did not view such fantastic destruction and focus, instead, on a political statement.
I consider this thread to be a disgrace, and a horrible embarrassment to FR. I dare suppose that if Phoenix or San Diego were completely destroyed by an earthquake, there might be some Republicans rummaging through through the devestation. Even if the point is legitimate (I'll admit they guy's posture hardly suggests that "looting" really meant that he was scavenging for survival), it's still mind-boggling that amidst such devestation and destruction anyone can focus on a political T-shirt.
This isn't like Katrina... "Looter guy" was comical because he was so absurdly not desperate, since he was carrying exclusively Heinekens... No domestic beer for this looter!
