If you do airdrop supplies, you’ll have to drop in about a hundred Army Rangers ahead of the supplies.

We air-dropped supplies into Kurdish territory after Desert Storm. GHW Bush had stirred up the Kurds and given them false hope, which was crushed by Saddams's troops. To make matters worse we tried to cover our ass by dropping pallets of supplies, some of which landed on and killed waiting Kurds. That was kind of like Bush's swan song in 1992. Might have called it Operation FUBAR.

Why? Bill Clinton already did that.
Maybe we should use the American military to make third world countries UN protectorates. Look what happens.

If you do airdrop supplies, youll have to drop in about a hundred Army Rangers ahead of the supplies. Which is exactly what they should do - does Gates think there won't be/is chaos now?
People can wait for food - but water, they need NOW...
What's his plan. Wait until they can get people in there on the ground? They will no longer need water - just body bags.
In the meantime, my sil flies C 130's for the Coast Guard out of Florida - they are flying nonstop - on return, don't even turn off the engines, just reload and go..

If you do airdrop supplies, youll have to drop in about a hundred Army Rangers ahead of the supplies. That should be easy. Aren't we supposed to have a brigade of Army Rangers on call?
