Rothenberg Political Reports has moved the Masachussets race from "Narrow Advantage for Incumbent Party" to "Toss-Up." More at the Bay State Report.
Now Cook is calling this race a toss up (h/t Washington Independent):
The Cook Political Report, calling it one of the toughest [calls] weve had in a long time, joins the Rothenberg Political report in calling the Coakley-Brown race a toss-up.
The modern electoral history of federal statewide races in Massachusetts argues strongly that while state Attorney General Martha Coakley, the Democratic nominee, could have a close race, at the end of the day its unlikely that she ends up losing. After all, no Republican Senate candidate has won in the Bay State since 1972. But the non-quantitative arguments are quite strong. Republican Scott Brown has been the superior candidate with, by a long shot, the better campaign.
The universal agreement that Coakley has botched up an almost un-losable campaign is the only silver lining for Democrats here, as they look toward, best-case, a narrow win.

Cook: Brown ‘Really Might Win’ [Robert Costa]
There is something big going on in Massachusetts, says political analyst Charlie Cook in a conversation with National Review Online. He tells us that hes convinced that Republican Scott Brown really might win the upcoming special election for U.S. Senate in the Bay State. Brown, he says, has run a flawless, very smart campaign while his opponent, Democrat Martha Coakley, has been overly cautious and run an awful campaign.
This just seems to be a time where voters are looking for change and new blood, says Cook. The argument of continuing Senator Kennedys legacy doesnt seem to be cutting a lot of ice. The hardest thing for Brown, he says, will be breaking Massachusetts almost theological belief that Democrats usually represent them in the Senate. Theres still a bit of resistance to the idea of a Republican winning, he says.
Please blast your ping lists with this link. If there was any doubt in anyones mind that Martha Coakley and the Democratic overlords in Massachusetts are nothing more than human waste receptacles, this will erase any doubt.
Its an interview with Gerald Tookie Amirault of the Fells Acres Daycare tragedy. Coakley destroyed this man and his family. The interview took place this morning, January 14, 2010.
