Desperate Haitians have set up roadblocks with corpses in Port-au-Prince to demand quicker relief efforts after a massive earthquake killed tens of thousands and left countless others homeless.
Angry survivors staged the protest as international aid began arriving in the Haitian capital to help a nation traumatized by a magnitude 7.0 quake that flattened homes and government buildings.
More than 48 hours after the disaster, tens of thousands of people have clamoured for food and water and help digging out relatives still missing under the rubble.
Shaul Schwarz, a photographer for TIME magazine, says he saw at least two downtown roadblocks formed with bodies of earthquake victims and rocks.
"It's getting ugly out there. People are fed up with getting no help," he says.
The Haitian Red Cross believes 45,000 to 50,000 people were killed and 3 million more - one third of Haiti's population - were hurt or left homeless by the 7.0 magnitude quake
The quake flattened buildings across entire hillsides and many people are still trapped alive in the rubble after two days, with little sign of organized rescue efforts.
"We have already buried 7,000 in a mass grave," President Rene Preval says.
Planes full of supplies are arriving at Port-au-Prince airport faster than crews can unload them and aviation authorities are restricting non-emergency flights.
The influx of aid has yet to reach shellshocked Haitians who are wandering the broken streets of Port-au-Prince, searching desperately for water, food and medical help.
Relief workers have warned the death toll will rise quickly if tens of thousands of injured Haitians, many with broken bones and serious loss of blood, do not get first aid in the next day or so.

And so it begins.
Will they blame Bush?
Thought Obama had already saved them???
What kind of help were they expecting? A boat ride?
No matter how much we try to help, we will end up being the villains.
Well, if they don’t like what we are doing for them, we can just leave and they can do it better.

“Desperate Haitians have set up roadblocks with corpses in Port-au-Prince to demand quicker relief efforts...”
My God, is Geraldo and Shep already there???????
What a Godforsaken place.
Thinking twice now about giving anything.
I don’t wish to sound callous, but how stupid are these people?
Wouldn’t corpse barricades further hinder aid?
They’ll make perfect Democrats. They already think the world owes them.
the magazine..”Mother Jones’ already blamed Bush today! ha.
He didn’t do enough. No mention of Clintoon. ha.
“HIATIANS DIED...OBAMA LIED!”
HEY,OBAMA, YOU CAN’T GET THIS JOB DONE!IT’S YOUR KATRINA!”
Won’t be long until the media spins this as “Obama responded to the earthquake disaster faster than Bush responded to Katrina disaster”.
Where’s General Russel Honoré when you need him?
Clearly this is Bush’s fault. He should have got them all out before the quake....
No problem, Bush has agreed to get involved and take all blame.
