We as conservative teachers are compelled to raise our voice, loudly and in unison, about the plight of education in our state. This conference will serve as a focus for inspiration that we can bring back to our communities, bringing ideas with the conservative agenda into action in our school districts, advocating for greater roles in the areas of textbooks and curricula, and bringing the true role of education to light with themes that resonate with patriotism, altruism, and love of country.
We extend a hearty welcome to all parents and students concerned about academic excellence and school accountability.

Please forgive me for disturbing you, but you live in California and you’re the head of FR. Maybe you will know some people to ping this to?
Government conservative teacher is an OXYMORON.
Please think of both government schools, the old Soviet Union, and current communist countries as you read the following quote by Royce Van Norman:
“Is it not ironic that in a planned society of controlled workers given compulsory assignments, where religious expression is suppressed, the press controlled, and all media of communication censored, where a puppet government is encouraged but denied any real authority, where great attention is given to efficiency and character reports, and attendance at cultural assemblies is mandatory, where it is avowed that all will be administered to each according to his needs and performance required from each according to his abilities, and where those who flee are tracked down, returned, and punished for trying to escape - in short in the milieu of the typical large American secondary school - we attempt to teach ‘the democratic system’?”
Also...The progressive Utopians and industrialists who lobbied for government schools in the mid-1800s had as their goal the production of a compliant worker for the fascist state. Within 1 to 3 generations of government schooling we had:
** the IRS
** the federal reserve
** the failed League of Nations and later the U.N
** direct election of Senators
** the feminist movement
** FDR's New Deal
** Johnson's Great Society
** a few thousand socialist programs and agencies and now Obama!
Government schools can NOT EVER BE CONSERVATIVE.
ALL CONSERVATIVES SHOULD WORK TOWARD THE COMPLETE ABOLISHMENT OF GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS! Government schools were always a socialist scheme. Socialism can not be reformed!
And, yet another nail, well hammered. Well done. Do not confuse the disease with the symptoms however.
Rage away, God will do all He desires.
Or not.
No, but there can be conservative teachers, it is a difficult job, but there are many brave conservatives, some speak out, most don't, because life becomes too difficult for them. I speak from experience.

Conservative government teacher is an oxymoron.
Why? Please read the following quote by Royce Van Norman:
Is it not ironic that in a planned society of controlled workers given compulsory assignments, where religious expression is suppressed, the press controlled, and all media of communication censored, where a puppet government is encouraged but denied any real authority, where great attention is given to efficiency and character reports, and attendance at cultural assemblies is mandatory, where it is avowed that all will be administered to each according to his needs and performance required from each according to his abilities, and where those who flee are tracked down, returned, and punished for trying to escape - in short in the milieu of the typical large American secondary school - we attempt to teach the democratic system?
How can a conservative support, uphold, aid, and abet such a despicable system? Answer: They can’t and still be conservative.
I don’t know what the HELL you all are talking about, but I snuck in Ayn Rand’s “Anthem” into the reading schedule for my 9th grade literature class, and my Speech class just read Reagan’s “Tear down this wall” speech.
Denial is not a river in Egypt.
So?...What lesson is taught here? Hm?... That conservatives are sneaky?
I say the same to Christian teachers who attempt to “sneak” a little Christianity or Christian principles into their classes. What they are doing is teaching the children that Christians are sneaky.
Never heard of missionaries huh?
Never heard of missionaries huh?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
If they are true conservatives ( and/or fully Christian) they would be fired.
So?...What do these conservative ( and/or Christian) teachers do? Answer: They try to “sneak” in a little conservatism ( and/or Christianity) or they must ignore and go along with evil just to keep their jobs.
What they are doing is teaching children that conservatives ( and/or Christians ) are sneaky and will sell their principles for a paycheck, benefits, and a pension.
If Christ spits the lukewarm out of His mouth, why should we expect children to willing accept lukewarm and hypocritical conservatism or Christianity?
Well considering I use the Bible to illustrate rhetorical flourishes as well, I guess I’m guilty of “sneaking.” I guess I should simply abandon using the Bible in my class so that my students are never aware of its rhetorical perfection and clarity </sarcasm> (Sarcasm was clearly marked this time)
I’m guessing I should not “sneak” and just make them read Zinn for the whole year.
Well lets see if that statement holds true. I was sponsor for the Youth for Jesus Club, and I led the prayer at the flagpole daily.
I was criticized in the editorial pages of the local news.
Was life difficult, Yes it was, and I finally left, when it became Obvious that the Homosexual agenda was being openly promoted by the administration.
I always recommend that parents Home School most did not take the advice because they always think that all that nonsense applies to other schools, not theirs.
Having said that you sir you demonstrate no Christian love, or for that matter any concern for the lost. Your version of the Gospel is repugnant to me.
Thankfully you left. Thank goodness! If you had remained you would have been supporting and sustaining an organization that is in utter conflict with Christian principles. The students would have known this and concluded:
**Homosexuality is OK for Christians.
** Or..That homosexuality is not OK with Christian but their Christian teachers are hypocrites for accepting a paycheck for upholding an organization that promotes it.
I always recommend that parents Home School most did not take the advice because they always think that all that nonsense applies to other schools, not theirs.
I recommend homeschooing as well. In the home their faith can be totally integrated with their curriculum and family life.
Having said that you sir you demonstrate no Christian love, or for that matter any concern for the lost. Your version of the Gospel is repugnant to me.
I am doing all that I can to see that government schools are closed down. It is evil for the government to force children ( against their parents' wishes) into schools that teach everything from a godless point of view. Every minute of every school day children are taught to think godlessly. Any person with any love for children should be against this abhorrent practice.
I am doing all that I can to see that **all** children have the option to attend private schools that have the freedom to fully support the faith taught in the home.
And...You declare that I have no Christian love?
Well lets see if that statement holds true. I was sponsor for the Youth for Jesus Club, and I led the prayer at the flagpole daily.
Well this is certainly better than nothing, and I commend you for doing it.
The fundamental problem with government schools is that they are taught to leave their Christian faith at the doorstep of the school. From the moment they enter the government school everything is viewed through the lens of a godless worldview. The children must compartmentalize their faith in such an evironment rather than integrating their faith into all that they do. The government is literally forcing these children to express their faith at the flag pole! My childhood experience in my Catholic parochial school was incredibly different!
By attending godless government schools children are subtly taught that their faith is somehow shameful and must be hidden from public view ( compartmentalized) as if it were a bathroom activity.
What would I like to see Christian teachers doing?
I would like to see Christian teachers opening tuition-free private schools in their own churches. Perhaps they could be supervisors and church member volunteers could be the teachers. ( We know from homeschooling that uncredentialed parents can do a **great** job of teaching.) Once these schools are strong and thriving, they and the church members could work with parents and children of non-members. In my opinion this course of action would have the best success for missionary outreach.
At the moment I am lobbying within my church denomination. I am trying all that I can to encourage them to open tuition-free private schools for our children. I am also working to encourage vouchers and charter schools. Charters and voucher schools are not the best solution but they would help to build the infrastructure needed for complete privatization of K-12 schooling.
I also work with the tutoring program in our church every Tuesday evening. My husband and I specifically work with the Hispanic children. ( We are fluent in Spanish.)
I was criticized in the editorial pages of the local news.
I am not surprised. The editor was likely thoroughly indoctrinated in his godless worldview in government K-12 schools and later in college. Also...he or she was likely exposed to Christian teachers who supported an evil system and in return were happy to get a paycheck and pension. Missionaries are going to have a hard time overcoming that example.
The following is a letter I recently sent to my local regional church leaders.
One of the problems with getting our church to open private schools ( or to even address the problem of the godless worldview in our government schools) is that in our county the government schools are the single largest employer. There is no other business that comes even close in salary expenditures or budget. There are a lot of teachers, school employees, and vendors to the schools and their employees sitting in the pews. Even my dentist and his 5 employees depend on the government school dental insurance that is brought into his office.
I am not hopeful, but I will continue to do all I can.
December 29, 2009
Dear Ministers A, B, C, D, and E:
The Hispanic children with whom I am associated are very intelligent and motivated, yet, I am very concerned about the appalling reading and arithmetic skills that I find during the Tuesday night tutoring sessions. One child ( about 12 years old) is completely illiterate and innumerate. Nearly all the children struggle with reading. All of the children are grossly delayed in learning their math facts.
Of the children with whom I have worked, all have a poor grasp of phonics and none ( regardless of grade) have mastered basic math facts ( addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). To compound the problem, their homework requires mastery of these basics even though the children have not mastered them!
If it is child abuse to send a child who cannot ski up to the top of a mountain and push him off onto a double black diamond trail, then it is child abuse for a public school teacher to assign homework to a child that is utterly impossible for him to complete. The frustration, guilt, and depression on these childrens faces is plainly evident. Every day in school and every evening at home with homework must be a minor hell of despair for them. Why would we be surprised that too many drop out at the first opportunity?
On Tuesday before the Christmas school holiday, I helped a girl with the addition of mixed fractions. This was her formal homework assignment for that day. How is it possible for a child to add mixed fractions if she has absolutely NO idea what the denominator or numerator of a simple fraction represent? How can she find common denominators when for multiplication and division she needs help drawing lines and dots on paper for her to group? How can she convert improper fractions to proper fractions and whole numbers when she adds and subtracts with her fingers and can not carry a value from the tens column to the ones column? In other words, the assignment sent home for this child was **impossible** for her to understand. She told me that she is given homework assignments like this every day! This child is literally being pushed off a double black diamond educational mountain every day when she is not even a beginner. I call this child abuse.
What I am witnessing is SYSTEMATIC EDUCATIONAL MALPRACTICE and CHILD ABUSE!
I suggest that the following begin IMMEDIATELY:
· These children need a DAILY ,SATURDAY, VACATION, and an ALL- SUMMER afterschool educational program in highly structured and systematic phonics.
· DAILY drills in math facts.
· Appropriate rewards, certificates, and ceremonies to recognize the 100% mastery of specific levels of achievement in phonics and math facts.
· The children MUST NOT MOVE ON UNTIL THEY HAVE MASTERY OF A LEVEL!!!
· The older children must have 100% mastery of the fundamentals of arithmetic before moving to fractions. Each level of mathematics needs 100% mastery if there is to be any success on the next level.
· The parents must be instructed on how to create a learning centered home with TV, DVDs, I-pods, games, and Internet completely restricted until the child fully completes his weekly assignment goals. These goals must be rational and achievable.
· These children will need volunteers to pick them up and take them home from any afterschool program. Many of their parents are working more than one or two jobs and it is likely that many would find it impossible to bring their children to an afterschool program. Some may need tutoring in their homes.
Long term solution would include a combination of the following:
· Totally restructuring the public schools.
· KIPP charter schools or something similar.
· The church opens its own private tuition-free schools.
Although the Tuesday evening tutoring program is functioning as best as can be expected under the circumstances, it is far too little to do much good. It is like aiming a water pistol at a raging forest fire. The futures of these children are literally being burned up in slow motion. These children need INTENSIVE and SYSTEMITIZED INTERVENTION!!! They need it IMMEDIATELY!
The problem is a failure of the school to teach phonics in a systematic and rational manner, and a failure to demand that children master the basic levels in math before moving forward. It is a failure of the schools to properly group these children into an appropriate levels of mastery. It is a failure of the schools to assign the appropriate skill level of homework to these children.
Please forward this letter to those in the church and community with the authority to make a serious change. Children should never be neglected and emotionally abused in this manner.
Respectfully,
Wintertime
Perhaps you and Zionist Conspirator should be working together. If ZC can collect those who think of themselves as conservative teachers, and you can show them the power and truth of your idea, you might begin to build a real movement.
Hey, I was just passing the message along.
I actually agree with wintertime about what a totalitarian nightmare modern government education is. However, it was not always as bad as it is today, though the idea of compulsory attendance does indeed seem totalitarian (for that matter, so does a military draft, though there are those conservatives who support such a thing).
Compulsory government education was not always secular. Until modern times the government school system (which had not yet been centralized in Washington) pretty much taught Evangelical Protestantism along with the three R's. And the very first compulsory education law in America, "The Old Deluder" act in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, was theocratic, intended to teach the Puritan religion and innoculate the youth from the wiles of Satan.
As a former (retired) conservative public school English teacher, I appreciate the reminder of all that I learned in that stimulating college course “The History of American Education.” — I took that in the 60’s. Do they still require it for certification?
Never having been a teacher, I don't know.
What he is referring to is that you had to surreptitiously add Ayn Rand to the existing reading schedule.
I do hope you used “snuck” idiomatically.
