New York (AP) - A lawyer asked a judge Monday to toss out charges against the first Guantanamo Bay detainee to be brought to civilian courts, saying he was tortured for 14 hours over five days and denied trial for nearly five years.
Attorney Peter Enrique Quijano told U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan that Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani's right to a speedy trial was violated when he was sent after his July 2004 arrest to a secret CIA-run interrogation camp abroad rather than to the U.S. for a civilian trial.

Can I assume that judge Lewis Kaplan is a RAT appointee? Otherwise there'd be no reason for the filthy lawyer to have even bothered to make the request.

Amazing what people will do to keep their job or remain popular in the democratic eye. Shame on them.

Attorney Peter Enrique Quijano told U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan that Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani's right to a speedy trial was violatedObviously, the same could be said about every one of them...
This should get interesting. Did this lawyer stumble across a liberal scumbag Democrat judge?
Guess we'll see.

Can I assume that judge Lewis Kaplan is a RAT appointee? Kaplan is a Clinton appointee, and therefore must be presumed to be corrupt to the core.
C’mon. Who didn’t see this coming?

...and therefore must be presumed to be corrupt to the core. I'm not sure that I'd use the word "corrupt".I think "utterly amoral" better describes RAT judicial appointees.

I am not a lawyer by any means but just a human being with a conscience. My question is — must an American lawyer, or any lawyer for that matter, follow his conscience first or should he simply ignore it as he performs his legal profession and strictly use the skills taught in law school?
If the latter is the case, I would be scared $hitless at the moment of my death.

I hope that the judges turn all of ‘em loose. If they follow the law, they have to! It’ll be more nails in the rat coffin.

Since when do foreigners, especially those who weren't apprehended in the U.S., have ANY right to ANYTHING under the Constitution?

I can only hope that our heroes in the field doing the real work will find it necessary to off these scum after quick, intensive, one-on-one interrogations.
