OWASSO, Okla. -- Gubernatorial candidate state Senator Randy Brogdon (R-Owasso) today announced his adamant opposition to the Obama administration's Council of Governors.
"This power grab eliminates the lines between federal and state authority," Brogdon said. "This move by the administration undoubtedly violates our Tenth Amendment rights as a state."
The establishment of the Council was directed by the 110th Congress in 2008 by the enactment of Public Law 110181, Section 1822. However, an executive order was signed by President Obama on the 11th of January to initiate the action. The Council of Governors, according to the White House web site, will consist of ten governors selected by the President and will work directly with federal military and security agencies on military activities within the United States.
"As governor I would never sit idly by and allow the federal government to usurp power clearly delegated to the State of Oklahoma," Brogdon said.

And that's why I'll be voting for him in the primaries. BTW-he was also author of the immigration bill that clamped down on illegal immigration.
Oklahoma is blessed to have someone like Brogdon. He would make a fine governor. Like his stands on Illegal Aliens and the NAFTA Superhighway
I take it he won’t be one of the 10. heh.
Each of the last two emails we've received from his campaign have, IMO, had horrible misspellings and/or grammatical errors in them.
"Ice cycles" for icicles, and "mother's" (complete with possessive apostrophe) where "mothers" should have been used in the plural.
Again, we might support him and we might not, but stuff like this is not really trivial - not if you expect competence from elected officials and those who work for them.
Somehow, someway, I got on Mary Fallins email list...she seems fairly conservative....
....I dont know much about OK as I am from the northeast....
in your opinons, how does she rate against your guy???
Mary always seemed a bit squishy, she voted for TARP. I know Randy would not even consider a lot of that nonsense.
Knowing where he stands on the federal governments relationship to state rights is a major point in his favor. I’ve never heard Fallin speak as clearly as he has on this issue and it just may be the most important issue the next governor faces with the current group in Washington.
Here’s his website, I think he’s a very articulate conservative, no doubt where he stands. But Fallin? I don’t know about her.
